Essence Snow Much Love Glitter Liquid Eyeliner [01 - Oh Snowy Shine!] Review
By Maychiri's Thoughts - March 10, 2023
After the Snow Much Love Blush and Highlighter I'd reviewed
previously, let’s check out the Eyeliner from the Snow Much Love LE! So, this
is the Essence Snow Much Love Glitter Liquid Eyeliner, shade 01/Oh Snowy Shine!
(there aren’t any other shades).
I first saw this eyeliner at Müller, and I wanted to buy it,
but I convinced myself otherwise because I thought to myself: “you know you
don’t use glitter products all that much, why would you buy this?”. But I kept
thinking about it; I just couldn’t stop thinking about how beautiful and
glittery it would be! And I tried to convince myself not to buy it, but I am
just too stubborn, so... haha! So then I ordered it on Notino; I was so fricking
stoked to finally try it out after Christmas! It looked like it would be
perfectly girly and glittery and fun and cute! My excitement was palpable, but
was I right to be this hyped over it? Let’s see what it’s like!
Packaging: super cute! It looks similar to Essence’s Dip
Eyeliner: it’s got a tiny tube with a very tall, pointed cap. It looks like a
calligraphy pen with its inkwell! The cap is white, to fit with the theme of
snow, and it closes really well! I love how tall and elegant it is! The tube has
the most adorable little glitter, which, along with the peachy colour just
makes it so cute! I love how Essence used a dark pink colour for the text, it
ties it all together so elegantly! Oh, and the heart! So lovely! All in all,
such cute packaging, I love it!

The applicator is a tiny, thin little brush. It picks up a lot
of pigment, really a lot! Much more than it seems! The brush is super soft and
is really well-made, with absolutely no fraying! It just seems like it’s really
high quality. The applicator applies pigment perfectly evenly and it’s quite a
thick layer, too! It’s so easy to use that even the biggest eyeliner newbie
will feel comfortable using it! Despite being so soft, it is super easy to make
a precise eyeliner wing with it. It is a really fantastic applicator! Oh, and
this isn’t really related to the applicator, but the stopper is so good! It allows
the applicator to have the perfect amount of eyeliner on it! Sometimes the
stoppers can make it so there isn't enough pigment on applicators, but this one
is just perfect.
Now, the colour! This is a pale rose golden eyeliner with a
ton of fine glitter inside it. The glitter is multicoloured to give this
eyeliner an otherworldly shine. It’s really fantasy-like with all the glitter,
so magical! The colour itself is very light; in fact, it is barely visible on
my pale skin. I can only notice it if I look at it from an angle or if I am in
a dark room and I shine a light on it. Otherwise, it’s like it’s not there! Such
a shame, as it is really magical and really beautiful! It should look much
better on darker skintones.

Worn with Bourjois Regard Effet Métallisé metallic eyeliner (52/Brun inoxydable) |
The formula is excellent, I really like it. It is very
watery, but not at all runny, making it incredibly easy to use even if you
aren’t an eyeliner pro! It was child’s play drawing a graphic eyeliner look and
drawing out flicks. In the end it looked so even and rich (at least when I
managed to actually see it!). It is easy to fix mistakes, even with your
fingers!
Now, yes, this eyeliner does take quite a while to set, which plays a
huge part in how easy it is to use, but you also do have to keep this in mind
so that you don’t accidentally ruin the look thinking that it’s dry when it’s
not. It can really trick you. As I don’t often use liquid eyeliners, this
formula is god-tier to me, endlessly easy to use and forgiving, which makes
making various looks with the eyeliner fun, not frustrating at all!
This is literally the perfect eyeliner to train your
eyeliner skills with, as it is extremely easy to apply it evenly and thick. And
it is so forgiving, if you make any mistakes, just wipe it off with your
finger/cotton bud. Flawless application in no time! It is also immensely buildable,
and thanks to the god-like formula, it is as easy as can be to trace existing
eyeliner to build up the intensity without smudging everything up!
It’s also super comfortable to wear, despite being so
glittery! While it is still setting it feels just a bit wet, but it becomes
just a tad tacky after it has set. Then it becomes practically weightless! I
literally couldn’t feel it on my eyes after it had set properly. And it
continued to be this comfortable for hours, staying just as pleasant and comfortable
to wear 8 hours later! Best of all, the glitter stays put, so it doesn’t end up
getting into your eyes!
This eyeliner is
quite long-lasting. After 8 hours it still looks the same, not one bit
smudged or faded. I did not notice any creasing, but then again, I did not
apply it in my crease in the first place (at least in two of the three looks)! I reckon that it would crease without
a primer if you were to apply a thick layer on the crease. Scratch that, it does not crease one bit, even 8 hours in! My oh my! My oily skin did not
cause any problems for the eyeliner during these 8 hours, but it does not really
like to get wet, so, if you get caught in the rain or if your face gets wet for
any reason it will wash off. So it’s definitely not waterproof. Still, despite
that, it has much better longevity than I ever thought it would!

Here's a random heart swatch on my hand, idk |
All in all, I really don’t know what to think about this
eyeliner! Haha! Like, I was so stoked to finally open it and use if, but when I
saw that it’s basically invisible on my skintone I just felt so deflated and
kinda sad. I thought it was hilarious how something so glittery could be so
subtle at the same time. I just feel sad that my skin is too light for it, I am
betting it looks awesome on darker skin! Sigh. Well, that aside, everything
else about it is fantastic! The incredibly easy to use soft applicator that
makes drawing flicks easy as 1-2-3, and the equally easy to use formula that
ensures you always get an even and rich layer of pigment (even if it is barely
noticeable on me) and is easy to fix if you made any mistakes makes the whole
application process as easy as it can possibly be! There is no smudging while
applying it and it is easy to get sharp lines with the applicator. The formula
is wet, but it feels comfortable to wear, especially after it sets and becomes
so light that you’ll forget it’s even there! It’s also quite long-lasting, looking
just as good 8 hours in as when you first applied it. But it isn’t waterproof,
however, and tends to disappear if it gets wet. Makes sense, the formula is
water-based after all! The glitter is very fine to minimise the chance of it
damaging the eyes if it gets into them, and is super comfortable to wear.
However, like with all glitter makeup, you will be finding glitter everywhere
on your face after removing the eyeliner. Since it’s such fine glitter I don’t
mind it as much as with larger glitter. I was beyond hyped for this eyeliner; I
wish I could say this is the best glitter eyeliner around, but since I mostly
cannot even see it on my eyes, I was left feeling sad and disappointed. Everything
about it is truly incredible, everything but the colour, sadly; perhaps I am
just too light for this eyeliner. I mean, it did look nice, but not sparkly and
glamorous like I thought it would. It’s not even sparkly enough on my skin to
make a winter wonderland themed look. I don’t know, I am really torn. I love it
but I also feel immense disappointment. I will still give it my recommendation
because it is simply wonderful to use, but, it really isn’t meant for pale
people like me. It’d be best to use it on darker skintones.
Rating: 8/10
Would buy again? Maybe YES (due to just being stubborn and
wanting to make it work, but it is LE, so it will be discontinued soon enough)
