Out of all the various nail polishes for this week, let’s start with the smallest nail polish of the bunch, the
Depend O2 Nail Polish, shade 599.
I bought this one because it looked like a great light beige
polish, and I thought it would be perfect as a nude shade for my pale skin. This is
also my first Depend nail polish and I just wanted to see if their nail
polishes are any good, because their base coat is awesome. Plus, what I didn’t
know is that this shade in particular was marked down, which wasn’t clearly
marked anywhere, so I got it for a bargain!
Packaging: a tiny little, slim, clear glass bottle. It’s
rectangular. The cap is white and maybe even slightly bigger than the bottle
itself! The cap can be closed super tightly.
Ingredients: no nourishing ingredients and also 3-free
(toluene, DBP, formaldehyde). The scent is like most other nail polishes,
although, curiously, it develops a slight coffee-like smell on my nails after
it has dried. Don’t know why, but it’s nice! The expiration date is 12 months
after opening.
This is a strikingly beautiful colour! It’s a very light
cool beige, almost like the colour of latte. It is almost a perfect match for
my skin, which makes it look even more elegant, I think! It’s such a light and
versatile colour and perfect for autumn!
The brush is phenomenal! It’s a flat brush with rounded
corners that picks up way too much pigment. So much that, even if I tap it off,
I still have enough polish left on it to paint two/two and a half nails. So you
really have to tap it off and then apply the polish carefully, so as to avoid
having a coat that is entirely too thick. Besides that, it applies the polish
wonderfully evenly which makes it so easy to use! And, it’s quite big,
especially when put in such a tiny bottle! So, it’s as good as Catrice’s nail polish
brushes, which are almost always excellent.
The formula is very thick but also very creamy and silky.
It’s a pretty good formula; it’s easily applied, not one bit patchy and spreads
wonderfully. It is also quite gelly, especially after it has dried and when I
touch my painted nails. This formula is definitely much thicker than what I am
used to working with, but thanks to how creamy it is, it is a pleasure to work
with. In terms of coverage, just one coat can give you up to 100% opacity if
you apply a slightly thicker coat. If not, then it’s about 85% opaque. Two
coats is absolutely totally opaque, and don’t even think about applying a third coat because it already looks a bit too thick with two coats. The texture is
glossy.
Durability is pretty good, but I did notice that it had
started chipping by the end of day 2. By the time I went to remove it, it had continued
to chip continuously, bit by bit. Perhaps it is due to the thick coat that I
ended up with? This, combined with the insane amount of scratches it had the
morning after applying it means that a top coat is absolutely necessary. This
was a disappointment, as I really hoped it would be durable enough to go 3 days
without any major chipping. Such a shame!
This polish is very easy to remove. It did not leave any
stains.
In conclusion, I still like this polish very much, despite
it chipping rather easily. The brush is absolutely fantastic and makes the
process of painting nails incredibly easy. The formula is so nice, being silky
and creamy at the same time! It’s also pretty thick, so don’t go crazy with the
number of coats. One coat was already pretty opaque, and if I had applied it
just a bit thicker it would have been totally opaque. Naturally, it’s totally
opaque with two coats, but it’s also way too thick and feels kind of gelly.
Also, it’s very prone to getting scratched, so between that and the chipping
issue, you will want a top coat. Even with these problems, it’s still a
wonderful nail polish, and the colour is amazingly beautiful! It’s just like a latte! I am going to recommend it, in spite of the problems.
