Three nail polishes that looked almost identical; the one we
are checking out now is the Depend O2 Nail Polish, in the shade 723.
Look, this nail polish wasn’t something I had planned to
buy! But. DM had a coupon that would net you a bunch of extra points on their
loyalty card if you bought products from certain brands, such as... oh look,
Depend! But I just felt so uninspired... until I noticed that three nail
polishes looked almost the same under DM's lighting. Huh. That’s interesting!
These O2 nail polishes are small and inexpensive, so I decided to buy all
three! An impulse purchase if there ever was one, but I’m sure I won’t regret
it! To be fair, I do love me neutral nail polishes, and this shade is a darker
nude. So, let’s see how good this nail polish is!
Packaging: such a small rectangular bottle! It’s clear so
that you can see the colour of the polish inside. I love the large white text, it
really stands out from the colour of the polish. The cap is white and closes
very tightly. I find it kinda funny how the cap is almost taller than the
bottle itself!
Ingredients: nothing nourishing and 3-free (DBP,
formaldehyde, toluene). The scent is like most nail polishes. The expiration
date is 12 months after opening.
The brush is small, but it is quite wide for its size. This is
a flat brush that picks up an incredible amount of pigment, much more than you
actually need! Definitely tap off the excess – trust me, you’ll make a huge
mess if you don’t! The formula is easy to use but it is still thick, so it
requires very thin coats. The brush is the perfect size for my nails, and it is
quite precise, so it isn’t too difficult to paint the nails cleanly, without
much polish spilling onto the cuticles. And, unlike with the other two shades
(707, 724), this brush doesn’t leave many air bubbles as you are painting your
nails! It definitely looks like a slightly more high quality brush compared to
the others.
Oh wow, this colour looks way different now compared to what
it looked like in the shop! In reality, this is a cool purplish-greige. It’s
kinda like a light taupe gray. Honestly, when I saw it in natural light I
wasn’t too sure I would like it, but seeing it on my nails and how it meshes
with my skintone... it’s absolutely beautiful! Dark enough to add some drama,
but still pale and neutral enough to be good for both formal and casual
occasions. It’s such a cool and modern colour! It’s also perfect for winter!
The formula is very nice and silky. It’s a little bit less
thick compared to the other O2 nail polishes, and a but more silky than creamy.
It’s very pleasant to use as it is super easy to spread across the nails evenly.
This is a formula I like better than the slightly thicker one found in shades
707 and 724. Also, it doesn’t have quite as many air bubbles as the other
shades; is this due to the formula being ever so slightly different or due to
the brush being better?
With one coat it is pretty opaque, but not completely. It
actually looks stunning like this – very much like glazed nails! Very cool!
It’s much more even than the other shades with one coat. With two coats it is
fully opaque and looks rich but not too thick. Thanks to the breathable formula
it doesn’t look goopy or thick. Now the colour looks exactly like it should. I
definitely wouldn’t go for 3 coats though, it’ll certainly look way too thick
then. The texture is glossy.
Longevity is surprisingly much better than with the other
two O2 nail polishes I bought! Not only does it chip less, there’s also fewer
air bubbles and drastically fewer scratches! That doesn’t mean there are no
scratches – there are, they are just very shallow, tiny scratches that are hard
to even see. This allows the beautiful glossy finish to stay just as glossy for
days. And this colour needs the gloss! I think it would look dead if it were
muted or matte. Over the course of 4 days this nail polish got only very
slightly chipped off. And that’s mostly on the one nail that was already
slightly chipped on one side. There’s almost no edge chipping! And it wears
much better near the cuticles as it doesn’t look as thick.
This is a much
needed improvement after the last two Depend O2 nail polishes! Don’t know why
this one is so much better, but I am happy it is! Still, I would suggest a top
coat!
This polish is easy enough to remove, although you might
have to spend some time breaking through it initially. There isn’t a lot of
rubbing needed to remove it fully. It also does not leave any stains!
All in all, this might just be my favourite of the three
almost indistinguishable O2 nail polishes! Yes, it is the darkest of the three,
and a bit darker than what I would usually wear, but the colour is just so
gorgeous! The moody light taupe/slightly mauve-ish greige is incredibly elegant
yet understated at the same time. It’s a neutral colour that you can wear
anywhere, formal or informal. And it is a fantastic colour for pale skin. The
brush is more of the same old for O2; a flat brush that picks up a huge amount
of pigment but that spreads it evenly and richly. However, this brush is much
better than the previous two! This one is not at all frayed and doesn’t cause
air bubbles to form! The formula is, again, thick and creamy, but this one feels
noticeably more silky. More silky than creamy, actually. This makes it the
easiest formula to use, of the three. And its longevity is great, too! It
doesn’t suffer from a million scratches like the other two, and the scratches
that are there are shallower, so they don’t impact the appearance of the polish
as much. It is also able to withstand a hair wash miraculously well, with only
the tiniest amount of chipping on a nail or two! I might have been a bit on the
fence about this colour initially, but I have fallen in love with it over these
4 days! This nail polish has its share of flaws, but they are not as bad as with
shades 724 or 707. Although, since it still does get scratched up and it is
fairly thick, I am not sure that I would recommend it. And it was this close!
Rating: 7.5/10
Would buy again? Maybe NO (idk, it’s really good)
