Wet n Wild Star Lux Lip Gloss [1111961E - Honey-Moon] Review

By Maychiri's Thoughts - May 26, 2023

Hello!

The second lip gloss in this LE, this is the Wet n Wild Star Lux Lip Gloss, shade 1111961E/Honey-Moon (get it?)!

Another lip gloss that is part of the phenomenal Wet n Wild Star Lux limited edition. This lip gloss was actually bought before I got Lunar or Later; however, as I had accidentally dropped Lunar or Later immediately after buying it, I decided to open that one first just in case something had gone wrong. So this is the second one to be opened of the four that I have. I bought this one first because I couldn’t resist the intense gold colour! Look, it’s gold, it’s sparkly... and I seem to be somewhat of a magpie, so this is like honey to me (pun not intended). I already envisioned my lips being gorgeously gilded and extravagantly elegant! I simply had to buy it, no questions asked! The fact that I had a 30% off coupon made it all the sweeter! So, now that I have this honey golden lip gloss, is it going to be sweet as honey? Or will it sour the mood and be a disappointment? Let’s find out!

Packaging: a clear plastic tube. The text is white, which looks good against the golden colour of the lip gloss. The cap has little stars and the Moon on it! So cute! Look, there’s even a constellation, the Big Dipper/Ursa Major! And a shooting star! Lovely! The cap closes incredibly tightly, so don’t worry about spilling this gloss! Unlike Lunar or Later, Honey-Moon does not have the weird rattling. I am still trying to figure what that is, exactly, hmm. I love the design, it is quite starry but still simple so that it is not overpowering. And it’s cute! And that’s what matters!

Ingredients: passion fruit/maracuja (Passiflora edulis) seed oil, argan (Argania spinosa) kernel oil, vitamin E, mongongo tree (Schinziophyton rautanenii) kernel oil, macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia) seed oil, jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) seed oil, coconut (Cocos nucifera) oil for nourishment. Also, soy (Glycine soja) oil. No parabens. Well that ought to be enough oils, don’t you think? I think it is an adequate amount. Just kidding, it’s way more than adequate; it’s like the bloody encyclopaedia of emollients has been mixed into this lip gloss! And I ain’t complaining! Nope! This is fantastic, especially when you consider the price of this gloss! The scent is just the same as Lunar or Later. It’s a relatively pleasant smell that smells very sweet and like vanilla cookie dough. There is a kind of unpleasant tart note in the scent. Still, it is quite yummy! I like it! The expiration date is 18 months after opening.

Colour: for all intents and purposes, this is a clear gloss, at its core. Even though it is golden in the tube I cannot see so much as a trace of a golden colour on my lips. Too bad, I think it would look even better if it were slightly golden. In any case, it enhances the natural beauty of the lips, or elevates a lip product under it to a whole new, galactic, level. There is a ton of shimmer inside this lip gloss, but it is not, sadly, as vivid or noticeable as in Lunar or Later. The shimmer is a mix of magenta and golden particles; at first I thought it was just golden, but there is definitely magenta shimmer in there, too. The magenta shimmer actually takes over most of the time, leaving the gold shimmer barely visible. I do wish there was more gold shimmer and less magenta, then it would truly be like honey.

It’s kind of weird how it is so intensely gold in the tube but then becomes clear with golden shimmer on the lips. In any case, it is quite lovely and sparkly!

Oh my god, the formula of this lip gloss is astonishing! It’s ridiculously creamy, like a high-end lip balm! It’s also very greasy and oily, but it actually feels nourishing, not heavy. Oh and yeah, it is extremely thick, but I really like it this way, idk, it just feels luxurious for some reason. The fact that it is this greasy and oily and creamy isn’t surprising, just take a look at all the various emollients in this lip gloss! It’s got more oils than you can count! This also prevents the lip gloss from feeling tacky.

Man, such a great formula!

This lip gloss is sooo comfortable to wear, like, it feels like a luxurious lip balm more than a lip gloss! It’s thick and creamy, but it somehow manages not to feel heavy. It really feels like it is nourishing my lips! And it probably is, given all the emollients! However, it changes about an hour after applying it. It becomes more dry and kind of waxy, but still very comfortable. It also becomes very slightly tacky then. This shade has shimmer that is slightly larger, which means that I can sometimes feel it on my lips.

It’s not sharp, though, so it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. I kind of like that I can feel it sometimes, it adds a bit of texture! The texture is highly glossy, almost like glass. It also looks somewhat gelly, a bit more than Lunar or Later. There’s something truly stellar about the way this lip gloss looks: the shimmer! It adds the perfect finishing to an already gorgeously glassy texture, the shimmer makes it look like it’s got star dust dispersed inside it! Although, for some reason, the shimmer isn’t quite as noticeable as it is in Lunar or Later. Still, it is absolutely gorgeous!

Applying this lip gloss is as easy as counting to 3. It glides across lips without any tugging whatsoever, despite the thick formula. The oils make the lip gloss super smooth, so that it is perfectly applied every time.

Longevity is, like with most lip glosses, rather meh. It cannot survive the whole day; by hour 2 it will mostly disappear, while by hour 6 it will completely disappear. So, if you want to keep it the whole day you will have to reapply it again and again. Also like most lip glosses, it does not tolerate food at all, as eating any kind of food, or even drinking for that matter, destroys it. So you’ll have to reapply it after a meal. This isn’t a huge problem or disappointment because I expected it to not last very long, as few lip glosses do. And since it is so easy to apply, it’s really no problem if you need to reapply it.

Removing this lip gloss isn’t terribly difficult; in fact, it is quite easy, although the shimmer likes to explode and go everywhere. That’s if you are removing it with micellar water, it’s quick and painless if you use specialised cleansers or wash gels. And that way you can prevent the glitter from asploding. It doesn’t leave any tacky or greasy residue.

Applicator: an average sized flat applicator. It’s really super soft, like plush! It’s so wonderful to use! It picks up a very good amount of lip gloss, enough for both lips, and, because of its flat shape deposits it evenly and richly. It’s easy to line the lips, too, because the edges are very thin, more than precise enough for this. Yes, this also means that depositing lip gloss onto the cupid’s bow is as easy as pie! I love this applicator!

All in all, I really love this lip gloss! It’s just as good quality as the clear one (Lunar or Later), but this one actually has a bit of colour. And I really mean a bit, as the only colour comes from the gold shimmer. I must say that I kinda prefer Lunar or Later and how it looks on the lips; this one is still very pretty, but it just doesn’t look quite as good on its own as Lunar or Later. This one would work much better as a topper. Still, the gold shimmer looks pretty nice on lips, I must say! Although maybe just a tiny bit chunky in places. Eh, I don’t really mind that. I would like if it had a bit more colour, as it’s pretty much a clear lip gloss with golden shimmer. I think it would look better of it was slightly golden itself. If it is, I cannot see it on my lips. So the only real difference between Lunar or Later and Honey-Moon is the colour of the shimmer. In terms of what the gloss is like to wear, I can safely day that it is very comfortable to wear for hours (or however long until it disappears naturally). It’s super creamy and luxurious at first, and stays that way for some time. It’s a ridiculously good feeling, not at all heavy or tacky or greasy. After a while it becomes drier and then it is more waxy than creamy, and a tiny bit tacky. But still very comfortable! The shimmer is a tiny bit large, as I can feel it ever so slightly on my lips. It’s not sharp, though, so it’s no big deal. However, don’t expect this lip gloss to last the whole day; in fact, it won’t last even a couple of hours without disappearing partially. After 8 hours it is practically completely gone. And food obliterates it, so you’ll have to reapply it after a meal. Same goes for drinking. Reapplying it isn’t a problem, though, thanks to the amazing flat applicator! It’s plush soft and picks up just the right amount of gloss and then deposits it perfectly evenly and richly. It’s even easy to line the lips, too, including the cupid’s bow! And it also doesn’t dry out my lips one bit; I expected it to be hydrating, just look at all the emollients in it! The ingredients list is quite frankly impressive for the price! So, if you’re looking to book a Honey-Moon, take this lip gloss with you; it will be the perfect companion! I love it, a tiiiiiny bit less than Lunar or Later, but I still love it! So, it will get a recommendation! Too bad that it’s part of a limited edition! I would love to buy it again!
