Hello!
This is the first review for today, the Avon Naturals Wild
Strawberry Dreams Body Butter!
This body butter was in Avon catalogues for many, many
months at a pretty discounted price. I originally didn’t want to buy it,
really, but then I remembered how juicy and delicious the matching shower cream
smelled! It was literally like bathing in strawberry juice! So I thought it
would be awesome to have a body butter that smells like that. Let’s see what
it’s like!
Packaging: just a big plastic tub with a white cap that
closes super tightly. There is a wonderful picture of strawberries! The tub
feels well-made.
Ingredients: glycerine, petrolatum, wild strawberry
(Fragaria vesca) fruit extract for nourishment. There are parabens in this
butter, specifically methylparaben. The scent is honestly a bit of a let-down. I
expected it to smell like fresh strawberries, but it doesn’t smell like the
matching shower cream. Instead, it smells slightly chemical, somewhat soapy,
which is supposed to be a yogurt smell? The strawberries are barely noticeable,
so it just ends up smelling yogurty and sweet.
I wish the strawberries were
more prominent, as this is a bit too synthetic for me. Sigh. The expiration
date is 12 months after opening.
This body butter is pure white. Its consistency is super
thick, but it’s also super easily spreadable. It feels very greasy and soapy,
but it’s also really firm but also creamy. It really does feel like butter,
that’s for sure! It is a bit too greasy
and slick for me. And I somehow feel like I always use way more than is
actually necessary. Which then leads to my skin struggling to absorb the butter,
leaving white streaks on my skin.
And since I usually apply this butter right
before I go to bed, I usually wake up with white specks on my legs, which is
the pilled remnants of this butter. Obviously if it’s pilling like this, I
applied too much. But if I apply less I feel like there isn’t enough. Weird. This
formula leaves a soapy, slippery feeling on the skin, which is especially
noticeable in the morning.
This butter is ehh, hydrating enough. But it’s nothing
special, really. My skin feels slightly more nourished and it does help reduce
any itching I might have from irritations. But despite all that greasiness it
just isn’t as nourishing as you’d think it would be. Atleast it doesn’t feel
heavy on the skin.
All in all, this butter is honestly a bit of a
disappointment. It’s way too thick and soapy and it leaves a slippery feeling
on my skin. It is also difficult to absorb, leaving white streaks on my skin
and it pills a lot. And the scent is not what I was hoping it’d be, I thought
it would be exactly the same as the matching shower gel, smelling like fresh
wild strawberries, juicy and delicious. But it instead smells synthetic, more
like sweet yogurt than wild strawberries; in fact, there’s barely a trace of a
strawberry scent in this butter. Also, parabens; never a good thing to have. On
the other hand, I like how easy it is to spread on skin as it is very creamy. So,
in general, this body butter is nowhere near as good as the shower gel,
unfortunately. It’s sad, but I won’t recommend it.
