Wet n Wild Star Lux Lip Gloss [1111959E - Comet Me Bro] Review

By Maychiri's Thoughts - May 26, 2023

Let’s move on to the third lip gloss of this fab LE, this is the Wet n Wild Star Lux Lip Gloss, shade 1111959E/Comet Me Bro (what a name😂)!

This was actually the first one of these lip glosses to be bought, along with the highlighter brush. I really couldn’t decide which of the five shades I wanted, they were all so pretty! Just like the rest of the Star Lux LE, it’s such a beautiful and sparkly collection! Of course, I had to go to BIPA to buy anything from this LE, as they were the only ones stocking it. I knew that I wanted to buy most of the items in this LE eventually, I just couldn’t decide exactly what shades to pick, both with the lip glosses and the eyeshadow palette. So I thought that this bronze lip gloss would be the best one to buy, it looked sooo sparkly! Inevitably I would go on to buy 3 other shades of this lip gloss (they sold out the pink one, so sad). So, is it as good as the previous two? Or is slightly better, or even slightly worse? Let’s see!

Packaging: a clear plastic tube so you can see the lip gloss sparkle inside. This is really basic; however, the cap isn’t basic at all! It’s creamy rose brown coloured and has white stars and constellations and even the crescent Moon on it! Look, it’s Ursa Major! The star print is so cute! And fits in perfectly with the whole theme of this LE! This shade doesn’t have the weird rattle in the cap that Lunar or Later has.

Ingredients: passion fruit/maracuja (Passiflora edulis) seed oil, argan (Argania spinosa) kernel oil, vitamin E, mongongo tree (Schinziophyton rautanenii) kernel oil, macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia) seed oil, jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) seed oil, coconut (Cocos nucifera) oil for nourishment. Also, soy (Glycine soja) oil. No parabens. Now, if this isn’t enough emollients I don’t know what is! It’s got pretty much all the oils you could think of, so it really shouldn’t be drying for the lips. I cannot imagine how it could be! This lip gloss has the same scent as the previous two Star Lux Lip glosses, which is an aromatic, very sweet, vanilla-like scent that smells like vanilla cake dough to me. This one might be a tiny but more chocolatey, though. And there is this odd unpleasant note in the background, that is bitter and just not nice. It doesn’t really detract from the cookie dough scent, however. The expiration date is 18 months after opening.

I love the colour of this lip gloss! It’s a soft bronze, with a lot of rose tones in it. So, unlike the previous two, this one is actually pigmented! The others were clear lip glosses with shimmer of varying colours. This one, on the other hand, has a beautiful soft rose brown base that is absolutely gorgeous on all skintones! Copper and bronze lipsticks sometimes look odd on my skin, but since this is way more rosé than bronze it ends up looking natural. This is what I had been hoping Honey-Moon would look like, only with golden shimmer. Of course, because it is intensely pigmented that makes it a tiny bit more difficult to apply compared to the other two, but I’ll get to that in a moment. In any case, this is the perfect nude colour for medium skintones, and a lovely rosewood/bronze mix for us pale skinned.

Argh, I cannot get over how pretty this colour is! I love it so much! But there’s something still that I love even more: the shimmer! It’s multicoloured, but there’s still a lot of it that matches the colour of the base, which only makes the rose colour even more intense! And man, how it sparkles! This shade has much finer shimmer that glistens like molten metal. Indeed, it sparkles intensely under a light source, but even without shining a light directly at it, it still sparkles like diamonds! Or, rather, like a million stars twinkling in the night sky!

The formula is super creamy and rich, but it doesn’t feel heavy at all! It’s like a luxe lip balm! I can feel it nourishing my lips, so they surely won’t be chapped at the end of the day! It’s also quite greasy and oily, but it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. Of course it would be greasy and oily, just look at the number of oils in this lip gloss! How could it not be this luxe and creamy?? This is also the reason why this lip gloss doesn’t feel one bit tacky.

Like I said, this lip gloss is thick, and you can definitely notice it being on your lips, but it’s actually pleasant to wear! However, about an hour after applying it, it becomes drier, more dry waxy, and slightly tacky. This does not bother me; it is still very comfortable to wear in spite of that. And it still feels like it is nourishing my lips, which is the most important part, since my lips get chapped easily. As for the shimmer, I can actually feel it on my lips. It’s slightly grainy, but not sharp.

So it ends up feeling kind of fun, I like a bit of texture in these types of lip glosses. Every time my lips touch one another I feel the shimmer, and it is like having salt on your lips, with how finely-milled the shimmer is! And I love salt! Now, this shade has a wicked metallic, super shimmery texture that looks so soft and luxurious! The shimmer is only visible from up-close, from afar it turns into a much more metallic texture. It’s also super, super glossy, like polished glass! The combination of fine, metallic shimmer and glassy shine makes lips look juicy AF! I love it! Definitely starry, and most definitely Lux!

This lip gloss is super easy to apply thanks to the oily, smooth formula. It glides across lips without any tugging or pulling at all, and the shimmer doesn’t bunch up in the creases of the lips. It all looks super smooth and even, from the very first layer. However, since this is a pigmented lip gloss, you’ll have to be careful how you apply it so that you have the right outline. Clear lip glosses are easy that way because you don’t really have to worry about their shape, just as long as you somewhat keep it close to the natural shape of your lips. This one doesn’t have that luxury, to put it simply, treat it like a lipstick while you are applying it and pay extra attention to the cupid’s bow. This isn’t a negative thing, mind you, and it’s not something that annoys me; this is just how it is with any lip product that is pigmented.

Longevity is, well, it’s certainly a lip gloss, that’s a good summary! By that, I mean that it doesn’t last very long at all. It’ll be half-gone within a couple of hours, and completely gone by like 6 hours. All that remains of it is some shimmer. The colour completely disappears. So, with that said, it’s only natural that it also gets decimated by food, all types of food, greasy or not. Even just drinking water makes the gloss fade from the centre of the lips. Tbh, this is typical behaviour for a lip gloss, so I am not disappointed or annoyed. I fully expected this to happen. In any case, whether or not you are eating or drinking, you will have to reapply this lip gloss multiple times throughout the day if you want to keep the beautiful rosy bronze colour.

This lip gloss is extremely easy to remove with any make up remover. After it’s removed it doesn’t leave any tacky or greasy residue; what it does leave, however, is a lot of shimmer! Especially if you chose to remove it with micellar water. There is so much shimmer in this gloss that it tends to go everywhere while removing the lip gloss. I highly suggest using a wash gel or something like that to minimise the amount of leftover shimmer all over your face. The other two Star Lux glosses have the same problem, they are all shimmer lip glosses, after all!

The applicator is superb! It’s a relatively small flat brush; however small it may be, it actually picks up a huge amount of pigment! It’s enough for both the upper and lower lip! And because it is thin but flat that allows it to be very precise, making it extremely easy to line the lips... even the cupid’s bow! Which is extra important with a pigmented lip gloss such as this one! You want to have properly lined lips! I love how this applicator lines the lips in such a way that you get a ton of colour but not any sharp lines where there is too much pigment. It all looks super smooth and soft! Which makes my lips look super fluffy and soft! This applicator deposits the shimmer evenly and thickly, so that all parts of the lips get an equal amount of it, more or less.

I doubt that my lips would look so sparkly and juicy if this applicator wasn’t so fricking good!

All in all, I think that this shade may be my favourite one of the bunch, to be completely honest! The formula is wonderfully creamy and thick, so much that it feels like a rich lip balm! It doesn’t feel heavy or tacky, not at any point! Well, it might become a tiiiiny bit tacky after an hour or two, after it dries and starts feeling more waxy than creamy. But it is barely noticeable, to be honest. It still remains comfortable throughout the day, even of it does become more waxy. The formula is so easy to apply, like, it literally glides across lips! And the fantastic applicator helps so much with this. The flat applicator picks up a surprisingly large amount of lip gloss and, thanks to its slim design, is able to precisely deposit it where you want it. It’s no trouble at all getting sharply lined lips and cupid’s bow. Which is important with this shade in particular! Because it is really pigmented, unlike Lunar or Later or Honey-Moon. Those two were clear lip glosses with coloured shimmer. This one has a rose bronze base with multicolour, but still mostly bronze, shimmer. It actually makes the lips rosey bronze! Which, along with the super fine shimmer, makes the lips look super juicy and glossy! This shade has a more metallic finish, although you can still see the fine shimmer. Indeed, I can also feel it on my lips, like very fine gravel. It’s not sharp or uncomfortable, don’t worry. The metallic shimmer is the perfect complement to the extremely glossy nature of this gloss, it is a spectacular finish, I must say! The only thing that is not very good is that it tends to disappear quite fast, even as little as two hours after applying the gloss. The other two shades had equally bad longevity, but is it actually that bad when you take into consideration the fact that this is a typical lip gloss? Lip glosses typically don’t last very long, at least barely any that I have used so far have, and I have used a lot of ‘em. So I don’t really mind that it needs to reapplied quite often, or that food destroys it. I expected that to happen. Although, it could certainly be improved in that regard. Anyways, if you like rosey lip glosses, this one will amaze you! The colour, the formula, the starry shimmer! It’s breath-taking! Good first choice, eh? Since I am so happy with it, I will gladly recommend it! Comet me bro, if you disagree! If you manage to find it, since all the good stuff ends up being LE items, it seems. Such a shame...
