L’Oréal Paradise Extatic Pomade [106 - Ebony] Review

By Maychiri's Thoughts - February 01, 2022

The first item I will be reviewing today is the L’Oréal Paradise Extatic Pomade in the shade 106/Ebony.

I remember having a very hard time choosing which shade I would buy as I wasn’t that experienced with brow products back then. So, in my infinite wisdom I chose one of the darkest shades they had at Muller. This was my first brow pomade, and I had no idea what to expect. In hindsight, I really should have chosen a lighter shade.

Firstly, the packaging. It is gorgeous; rose gold, slightly reflective material with a matching rose gold metallic brow brush and a clear pot where the pomade is. I love how it tapers towards the brush; it kind of reminds me of Arabian architecture for some reason. The packaging is sturdy and feels really well made and more expensive than it is.

There are no nourishing ingredients and no parabens. The scent is barely noticeable, just slightly chemical-like. The expiration date is 12 months after opening (although it will likely start to become too dry to use effectively before those 12 months are up).

The application is easy enough; although I did notice that the formula started to be drier and a bit more difficult to evenly spread across brows about half a year later. At first, it didn’t feel crumbly but, again, a year later it started to crumble more and more in the pot, due to becoming drier. The pigmentation is intense, but I was always very careful to apply a thin layer (because I should have picked a lighter shade to better match my brows) so it may look like it’s not that pigmented in the pictures. As it is a pomade, it needs a short time to dry on the skin, and this pomade dries very quickly once you apply it.

The pomade feels soft on my skin, perhaps a little waxy. It’s very long-lasting; after a whole day of wearing it, it stayed in more-or-less excellent condition. Although I very rarely have problems with eyebrow products smudging or disappearing throughout the day, so this is no different. And that is despite having oily skin.

Removal is somewhat more difficult than other eyebrow pencils. Using micellar water, you will need to rub a little to remove it.

The little brush that is included is, in my opinion, the best part of this product. Not only does it look beautiful with its rose gold metallic finish, but it is also really precise. It is made from synthetic hair and they are good quality, stiff bristles. After a year of using the pomade, the bristles have begun to fray a little bit, but it’s negligible.

All in all, I was pretty satisfied with this pomade. I liked how it made my brows look very natural and I really liked the brush. The negatives are that it is prone to drying out so you’d better empty it in less than 12 months that they say is the expiration date, and that it can be difficult to remove. The biggest downside is that it starts to crumble pretty soon after opening it. Regardless, I think it’s worth to try this pomade as it’s really not that bad.
