Now, the second item: Golden Rose GR Lipstick, in the shade
57.
To be honest, I wasn’t planning to buy this lipstick; it was
definitely an impulse-driven decision because I hadn’t tried any Golden Rose
products before, and this lipstick was 50% off. I had also been eyeing the
Golden Rose kiosk for quite some time by then, and the generally low prices of
their products really piqued my interest! Sadly, that stand is gone now (it
used to be in Avenue Mall). Having said that, it’s pretty clear that I had
absolutely no idea what to expect from this lipstick, so… is it any good?
Packaging: it’s very elegant and seems more expensive than
it really is. I really like the combination of black plastic and reflective
gold details. The cap is angled, and it’s got an inner smaller tube that makes
sure it fits as snugly as possible. Unfortunately, since there is no indicator
of the colour of the bullet, there is no way to swatch it without first opening
the product.
Ingredients: for nourishment there is shea butter and
vitamin E, and there are no parabens. The scent isn’t too overwhelmingly intense; it’s
quite aromatic and perfume-y, and very much like roses. By now, the perfume has
evaporated somewhat but it still smells like roses. The expiration date is 18
months after opening.
Wearing just this lipstick |
Pigmentation is truly amazing, it’s very bright and richly
pigmented. One swipe is really all you need to get beautiful pink lips. The
application isn’t notable in any way, it glides like most lipsticks do. What I
will note, though, is that the bullet tip is sharpened and angled, which helps
with precisely applying it to corners or the cupid’s bow.
Worn with Catrice Aqua Ink Lipliner [080/Pinky Panther] |
The texture is more on the matte side, very slightly satiny
or silky. I love how it looks intense but also creamy on the lips. It also
feels very soft, which is always a great thing! Given what I said just now it
should come as no surprise that it is not at all drying.
Staying power is very good, it doesn’t fade much throughout
the day, or smudge. What isn’t very good is how it deals with food or drinks,
which is to say, it doesn’t all that much. Now, as most creamy lipsticks aren’t
terribly food-proof, and this lipstick is creamy, this is to be expected.
Still, you will definitely need to fix it post meal/drink. When you would like
to remove it just use any old micellar water, it comes off like a charm.
All in all, this is one excellent lipstick that really
doesn’t have many downsides. Yet, the positive things about it are plentiful:
the rich pigmentation, the soft feeling after you apply it, and how nourishing
it feels. Now, true, eating and drinking wipe it off somewhat but don’t let
that disappoint you too much, as it is a piece of cake to reapply it. I would
wholeheartedly recommend this lipstick to everyone!
