The first review for today is something I had been thinking
about buying for the longest time, and it’s the Catrice Lash Obsessed Lash Glue
& Eyeliner.
Now, I used to not use eyeliners often because I was not too skilled
with them and it always took me way too long to perfect my flicks. But, as
this is a glue and eyeliner in one, and I had started using falsies when I bought this eyeliner, I thought
it would be useful to have something that, as the saying goes, kills two birds
with one stone (please don’t throw stones at birds though!!!). I immediately went
and bought another one to have a spare just in case because it was 50% off in
DM. But was it wise to buy a replacement before even trying it out? Well, let's see!
First, the packaging: it came in a gold/black cardboard
packaging that looked rather modern. The eyeliner itself is reflective gold and
looks super modern and more expensive than it really is. I really love the way
it looks! The cap closes very tightly.
Ingredients: hyaluronic acid for nourishment and no
parabens. It’s very good that Catrice included HA so that it isn’t at all
drying. The scent is subtle, somewhat plasticy or like glue (makes sense, this
is glue after all). The expiration date is 6 months after opening.
This is a felt tip pen type of eyeliner, which is super easy
to use, especially for beginners, and is terrifically precise. The tip is
pointed, which makes it so easy to draw wings or geometric eyeliners, and there
isn’t usually a lot of tugging while applying it. It deposits pigment extremely
easily and evenly, except when it has already dried, then it can be a bit
difficult to fix mistakes.
There is no smudging while applying it and I didn’t
notice any bleeding or smudging later, either. The formula is quite liquidy at
first, but it quickly dries and becomes very tacky, allowing you to stick
eyelashes to it. The strength of the glue is satisfying, and I find it holds my
falsies very well. I really like both the felt tip and the formula as it’s
super easy to use!
The pigmentation is jet black, so, very intense, even with
just one layer. The texture is not really totally matte; there is a bit of
sheen, especially while it is still wet. I would’ve preferred it to be ultra
matte, but this is alright too. It dries within seconds, turning from a regular
ol’ eyeliner to an eyelash glue. It feels tacky when I touch it and it can also
feel a bit tacky and tight on my eyelids. It’s not uncomfortable though.
And I
must mention that it doesn’t irritate eyes at all even if you do get some of it
in them, as has happened to me while tightlining.
As for the longevity, I can safely say that it is extremely
long-lasting. I usually wear it for more than 6 hours and there is absolutely
no change in how it looks or feels, unless I keep touching it for whatever
reason. It stays just as black and there is no bleeding or smudging. It also didn’t end up cracking after drying. The
glue also holds extremely well for hours, and if I glue the lashes properly in
the first place they don’t budge, even 6 hours later. The only place where they
might end up popping off is in the inner eye, which isn’t surprising, but even
that happens relatively rarely.

Wearing just this eyeliner, with no falsies |
This eyeliner is terribly difficult to remove, sadly. The
only thing that removed it with ease was the Nivea oil-based remover which has
been discontinued, so now I have to struggle to remove it. To be fair, makeup remover I used isn’t too good and struggles to remove more durable
makeup like eyeliners or liquid lipsticks, so it’s no surprise that it cannot
remove this eyeliner. I have to clean my eyes multiple times to completely
remove the Eeeliner, and then finish it with micellar water. This all ends up
irritating my sensitive eyes, but I guess that extreme durability has to have a
price.
Just one more thing to note: if I have to fix this eyeliner
after it has already become tacky it ends up clogging the felt tip. That made
me throw the first one in the bin after only a couple of uses because I just
couldn’t get it to deposit pigment anymore. That’s a pretty big flaw I must say,
because not everyone is a master at drawing flicks so most will probably need
to keep fixing their wings. Don’t get me wrong, you can be finicky and keep
fixing it, just be very quick about it. And I couldn’t have cleaned the tip
with micellar water or something because it is extremely difficult to remove
anyways.
Conclusion: this eyeliner was a real pleasant surprise I
must say! It’s both a very good eyeliner and really good eyelash glue. The pigment
is jet black, and the felt tip pen is super easy to use and really precise. It
makes drawing winged eyeliners really easy, even if you are an amateur, thanks
to the extremely precise tip and liquidy formula. The finish is something
between matte and glossy. It’s extremely durable, and just as difficult to
remove, requiring a lot of rubbing and repeat cleansing to completely remove
it. But this is also eyelash glue, and it’s a bloody good one, too! As soon as
it becomes tacky after applying it you can put eyelashes on it and it will hold
them in place throughout the day. It’s not the strongest glue, naturally, but
it is plenty strong nevertheless. So, it really works as both an eyeliner and
an eyelash glue, the advertisement was not false! I grew to really like it,
which makes it all the more sad that it’s part of a limited edition; it really
ought to be part of the regular selection of products. So, sadly, once I am
done with the second pen I won’t be able to buy it anymore! These limited
editions that Catrice and Essence put out every other month can be a bit
annoying if you find something you actually really like. In any case, if anyone
finds this eyeliner and likes to use false eyelashes, don’t hesitate to buy it,
it’s brilliant! Recommendation!

Would buy again? YES (if it weren’t part of an LE)
