I first saw this gift set on DM's online shop, and couldn’t
decide whether to buy it or not. It wasn’t available in any DM that is anywhere
near me, so I kind of forgot about it for a while. And then I saw it displayed
in my local DM, so that I could see it in person. It wasn’t marked down in
person, but it was 50% off on the online shop, so I ordered it. At such a low
price, it didn’t matter much to me whether it would be good. So, is it a good
gift set? Let’s see!
This gift set is packaged as a cardboard Christmas ornament,
with a silk ribbon so that you can put it on a Christmas tree. The picture is
beautiful, with a Christmas floral design with poinsettias. It’s perfectly festive!
There is a piece of glue keeping the two pieces of cardboard together, but it
is easy to tear off, even accidentally. Inside, the products are kept secure
inside a piece of cardboard. This might be a bit cheap looking packaging, but
it’s fine; at least I can use it as an ornament!
This set contains two items: a body lotion, and a shower
gel.
The first item is the Körperlotion (Body Lotion).
This body gel comes in a small plastic tube that has a very
pretty picture of a flower (poinsettia, I think). The cap closes tightly.
Ingredients: soy (Glycine soja) oil, glycerine, shea
(Butyrospermum parkii) butter, vitamin E for nourishment. No parabens. The scent is relatively
intense and delicious; it smells like roasted almonds! There’s also a slightly
minty note in the scent. The expiration date is 6 months after opening.
This body lotion is white. The formula is very thin, kind of
watery. It’s much too thin for my tastes. It’s also quite greasy, especially
when it absorbs. It becomes slightly tacky after it has been absorbed, but also
pretty soft.
My skin feels soft after using this lotion, but there aren’t
really any differences. It is slightly more hydrated but it is simply far too
thin to have any real effects on my skin, especially overnight.
All in all, not terribly hydrating or anything else,
unfortunately. The lotion is thin and relatively watery, far too much, in my
opinion. It does make my skin soft, but that effect disappears a short while
after applying it. Besides that, there aren’t any effects, really; my skin
doesn’t feel particularly hydrated or nourished overnight, and it’s back to
being slightly on the dry side. The only really good thing about this lotion is
the scent, as it smells like roasted almonds. It’s a very yummy scent! It’s
just that the results are meh, so I don’t like it all too much.

The other item in this set is the Pflegedusche (Shower Gel).
This shower gel comes in a small plastic tube that has a
very pretty illustration of flowers on it. The cap closes very tightly so that
you don’t have to worry about it spilling.
Ingredients: glycerine, betaine for nourishment. No parabens
nor SLS, although there are sulfates in the form of Sodium Coco-Sulfate. The
scent is not too intense. It is quite pleasant: at first it smells like
vanilla, but it changes into a more floral, aromatic scent. It’s quite wintery
and gentle. Though it disappears completely after you rinse it, so it won’t
make your skin smell nice for a long time. Too bad! The expiration date is 6
months after opening.
This shower gel is colourless. It has a very gelatinous,
thin consistency, and it tends to slide off the skin due to the gel-like formula.
It is kind of annoying when that happens. The gel is quite soapy and slippery
to touch, but it’s not greasy. This is pretty much the classic shower gel
formula that Alverde always use.
I think that this gel cleanses the skin relatively nicely;
my skin feels clean but it’s not any softer nor does it feel any more
nourished. There aren’t any oily or tacky residues after washing it out. It
doesn’t really do much, but at least it doesn’t cause irritations.
All in all, this is an okay shower gel. I don’t like the
slippery, gelly formula though it is very easy to use. I hate when it slips off
my legs and into the water in the tub, it’s just wasteful! While the smell is pleasant and comforting, it disappears as soon as you rinse the gel out. And it
doesn’t even make my skin any softer, so it’s kind of just... there, I guess? I
guess it’s supposed to relax you with its scent while lathering your skin, as
that’s pretty much all there is to it. It’s meh, but I don’t hate it.

So, this gift set is okay, but nothing more, really. I love
the cute packaging that can be put on a Christmas tree as a decoration. The
products, however, are not too good. The body lotion offers only a small amount
of hydration, and it is far too thin to make any difference on my skin. It’s
just... there. The shower gel has an annoyingly gelatinous formula that can be
very irritating to use. It feels alright, I guess. It cleans my skin, like it
should, but that’s pretty much it. So, yeah, nothing special; not the body
lotion, not the shower gel. Since it’s a Christmas 2022 product, it’s not being
manufactured anymore, but I wouldn’t recommend it anyways, even when it’s 50%
off.
