The final brush for today is going to be one that is very
precise! The Terra Naturi Setting & Highlighting Brush!
Bought while I was still exploring all the various brands
that sell makeup brushes, I couldn’t finish this mission without trying out the
various brands Müller has! Among them is Müller's classic brand, Terra Naturi. I
admit I don’t usually use Terra Naturi products; not because I think they are
all rubbish, but because these ‘natural’ cosmetic products tend to go bad very
soon. But brushes can’t go bad, so it was only a matter of deciding which brush
to get! You know, a good highlighting brush goes a long way, so I decided to
buy the highlighting brush. It looks good – but is it actually a good brush?
Well, let’s see!
Packaging: the brush comes in a protective sleeve to keep it
safe. This is good – it prevents easy tampering with the brush, ensuring that
it stays hygienic! However, it is not immune to tampering as it isn’t sealed
with tape or anything that would indicate tampering. Also, you could totally reuse
the sleeve, if only I had thought of that... anyways, the sleeve matches the
black/silver design of the brush. Looking at the text in the back reveals that
this brush was manufactured by Barbara Hofmann – another Müller brand that
specialises in makeup tools and brushes. Hmm, interesting.
The brush itself is basic, but it still looks elegant. The
black/silver combination is always an elegant one! There are no details besides
the Terra Naturi logo on the handle. The ferrule is silver and seems to fit
very securely. The brush head continues the black/silver trend, with the hairs
being black with white tips. The build quality seems to be pretty high!
Everything seems robust.
The hairs are synthetic and very soft. It only feels very
slightly prickly when you tap with the brush, but when you swipe or swirl with
it, it is so soft! The hairs are perfectly even, with not a single hair out of
place! There’s also no fraying or fall-out! Although the hairs are quite shiny,
they don’t look cheap or plasticy. The shape is tapered, with a much narrower
tip. Perfect for precise highlighting. Wonderful quality here!
Oh, okay, I did not expect this! This brush performs
incredibly! Like, way better than it has any right! It picks up a huge (and I
mean huge!) amount of pigment from the pan, waayyy more than you’ll actually
need, unless you are going for the “blindingly shiny” look. So you have to be
carefully touch the highlighter pan, so that you only pick up an appropriate amount.
Honestly, I like this! Better this than to have to go back and forth like a
dozen times like with some other brushes that pick up a tiny amount of pigment.
Anyways, once you have enough pigment on the brush, it deposits the pigment
extremely richly. Like, it’s a real thick layer! And completely even, as well. Again,
you need to be careful how you apply highlighter as it is super easy to go
overboard with this brush. But since it is so precise (thanks to the tapered
shape), it is stupidly easy to get good highlighting. And to highlight very
small areas correctly, such as the cupid’s bow or the brow ridge. It blends quite
well, although, since it is relatively dense, I prefer to use a fluffier brush
to blend it all out. You can absolutely use this brush to blend, but it’s not
the best, is what I am saying. Incredible! So easy to use – provided you have a
gentle touch!
This brush is very easy to wash as it doesn’t absorb
shampoo. It is a pretty dense brush, so it might take a while until you fully
rinse out shampoo, and drying might take some time too. There is no fraying or
fall-out post-wash.
In conclusion, this brush has far exceeded all of my
expectations! It’s very soft and the hairs are high quality with absolutely no
fraying or fall-out! But wait, it gets even better – this brush deposits a
really thick and intense layer of pigment. Perhaps a bit too intense for some,
for those who don’t want to shine like the splendour of a thousand suns, but I
love it. It’s so easy to precisely highlight very small areas such ad the
cupid’s bow, but it’s also great on larger areas such as the cheekbones! It
also blends very well, although it excels in making highlighter blindingly bright!
It’s just so fun and easy to use and always gives me excellent results! Who
knew that a Terra Naturi brush would end up being this good? This is a ‘gen 1’
Terra Naturi brush; they have since changed both the manufacturer and design of
their brushes. I am overjoyed with this brush! I will happily recommend it!
