Just one, very sparkly, item for today! This is the Trend it
Up Quick Dry Nail Polish, shade 090.
This was not planned. I saw it in the clearance bin and the
colour dazzled me! Such a sparkly, metallic light rose? And at 50% off? Hell yeah!
I already have one Quick Dry Nail Polish, in a more standard, glossy finish, and, man, is it great! I can only hope this one will be just as good!
There’s only one way to find out! Let’s see!
Packaging: quite simple, just a clear glass bottle with a
black cap. The glass is thick and feels heavy. I like that! The text is white,
which is just a genius idea for such a light, mother of pearl, pearlescent colour!
Of course it is difficult to read, especially with the metallic finish of the
polish. Black would have been a better colour, but I do understand that it
would probably be too dark. In any case, not the best idea. The cap closes
super tightly, so no need to worry about the polish spilling. It’s a very
simple design, typical for Trend it Up, but I actually like its simplicity.

Ingredients: vitamin E and zinc for nourishment. Well, zinc
is here to help the nails grow stronger and harder. Also, Lithothamnion
calcareum extract, which is a type of red algae. And diatomaceous earth,
interestingly enough. 3-free (DBP, formaldehyde, toluene). The scent is like
most nail polishes, although maybe a bit more vinegary. It’s quite intense! The
expiration date is 24 months after opening.
This colour is so much more beautiful on my nails than in
the bottle. It’s a light pearly rose colour with a ton of tiny metallic
particles in it, giving it a slightly grainy but still creamy look. The colour
would be closest to mother of pearl, which is exactly what it looks like with
its pearlescent finish! So it makes sense for the colour to be like it as
well! It’s a very elegant colour that I can picture being used for weddings. It’s
definitely suitable for weddings!
The brush is short and, while it seems like it is a flat
brush, it is actually slightly round. In any case, it is really good! It picks
up an extraordinary amount of polish, like, you could paint an entire hand all
at once if you don’t tap off the excess! So, definitely do! This brush applies
pigment perfectly evenly and precisely, so that you don’t have a lot of it
outside the nails on the cuticles. I did end up with a bit of a mess on the
sides of the nails, but it’s really not that bad. The size of the brush is
perfect for smaller nails like mine, as it covers the entire nail in one
stroke. It is really fun to use! And it seems to be quite high quality!
The formula is actually quite creamy, compared to the other
Trend it Up Quick Dry polish. It’s silky and creamy and not at all gelly or
watery. It’s a fabulous consistency, almost perfect to me! It spreads so easily
and so evenly! And despite being creamy, it is actually not very thick, no, it
is relatively thin in fact. It’s really just lovely to use, more than the other
Quick Dry Nail Polish. Now, does it dry as quickly as the name implies? I
dunno, since I always use quick dry drops to prevent any mishaps on the first
day. But it does seem to be drier than most polishes when I am applying the
drops.
A single coat is very sheer. Like, maybe 40% opacity at
most, since the nail underneath is plainly visible. With two coats it develops
its true colour and becomes almost fully opaque (you can see the whites of the
nails a little bit if you squint). This is enough for me, and I highly advise
that you do not apply more than two coats. The formula is thick enough that
with two coats it feels ideal, I really think that it would be way too thick
with three. The texture of this polish is what sets it apart from plenty of
other nail polishes! This is a beautiful, elegant pearlescent finish that looks
just like mother of pearl! It’s so stunning; pictures don’t do it justice,
trust me! It much more beautiful in person. It is also super metallic, if there
is so much as a bit of light it will have a high shine finish. Hell, it’s shiny
even in the dark.
I cannot get over how elegant this finish is! It really looks
rich on nails, especially when you look up close and see the millions of
metallic particles! Gorgeous!
Hmm, it seems that there were a few smaller chipped off parts
that chipped off on day 2. Bummer. That’s way too soon. It isn’t easy to get it
scratched up, although I, of course, managed to get a deep scratch on one of my
nails. I think the pearly finish hides scratches very well. It started to chip
along the free edges of nails during the same day, and the damage was bad
enough that I could feel it when I touched the nail. It stayed in pretty good
condition aside from that. However, a hair wash damaged it, some nails fared
better, some worse. Mostly, it wasn’t too bad. So, I’d say that the longevity isn’t
too bad, but it’s not amazing, either.
This polish is very easy to remove, although it can
sometimes leave shimmer on the skin after removing it. I didn’t have to rub a
lot to remove it, which is good for sensitive nails. And it, naturally, doesn’t
leave any stains.
In conclusion, this is a great nail polish! The only bad
thing about is that the longevity could be better, as it usually starts
chipping within 2 days. Besides that, it is really good. The formula is just plain
great to use: it’s creamy and even and not at all runny. But it’s also not
thick or gelly. It’s perfectly smooth. Even though it is sheer with one coat,
it looks fantastic with two coats! It’s perfectly even and pearlescent and
sparkly! The finish is super pearly and metallic, and if you look closely,
you’ll notice that there are millions of small metallic particles. And that
gives the polish this otherworldly metallic, sparkly shine! Which looks even
better with the light rose colour! This nail polish is subtle enough to be used
for formal occasions such as weddings. The brush is phenomenal, it applies
polish evenly and richly and is big enough to coat my entire nail in a swipe or
two. It’s just a shame that it isn’t as long-lasting as the other Quick Dry
Nail Polish, as it’s much more beautiful. Still, it’s more than worthy of a
recommendation! I ended up loving it more than I thought!
