Misslyn Smooth Lip Liner [57 - True Love] Review

By Maychiri's Thoughts - September 27, 2023

The first review for today is the Misslyn Smooth Lip Liner, shade 57/True Love.

Müller was in the middle of removing all Misslyn products, so everything was 50% off while stocks last. I just couldn’t decide what to buy, so every visit I just stood there and looked at the Misslyn stand (which was getting emptier by the day) and contemplated what to buy. And then, after some time, and after literally checking out every item individually I found a few things that I might like. One of them is this lip liner! It wasn’t expensive and I do like berry-toned lip products! So, let’s see if it’s any good!

Packaging: just a standard coloured wooden pencil. The exterior matches the colour of the pencil itself, which can be useful for swatching without opening the pencil. The text is white, so it’s very easy to read. A pretty basic design, but that’s okay. The cap closes very securely, though!

Source: idk, actually

Ingredients: vitamin E for nourishment. No parabens. Lots of waxes to make it softer. The scent is subtle, kinda like a wooden coloured pencil and there is also a slight unpleasant scent, kinda tart. The expiration date isn’t listed anywhere, so I don’t know how long it lasts after opening. 12 months?

This is a berry-toned lip pencil. It is a dark raspberry that looks great on pale skin. It is a perfect colour for winter. It’s quite a gorgeous colour, I must admit!

The pigmentation is excellent! Just one coat and it's already very intensely pigmented. Since this is a wooden pencil, it is incredibly precise if it has been sharpened. The formula is super smooth and pretty creamy and soft. It’s a really good formula! It glides across lips without any tugging and deposits a rich, even coat of colour. The texture is satin. Not too glossy nor too matte, just a really elegant finish. I honestly didn’t expect this liner to have such a good formula, I thought it would be slightly dry and that it would be matte. But this is so good!

It feels so comfortable and soft on lips, even hours after applying it! So lightweight and soft, and it doesn’t dry out my lips one bit! It is still quite soft even 6 hours later! It does not collect in the fine lines of the lips and it doesn’t exaggerate them either.

Longevity is very good! There is barely any fading throughout the day and there is no smudging at all. It still looks really soft and velvety 6 hours later, not at all dry. However, it is not too resistant to eating/drinking. It will fade after a meal, especially if the food is greasy. So, you will need a touch up after a meal, but it’s not as bad as it could be.

Removing this lip pencil took only a few seconds! Just a single swipe with micellar water and that’s it! No rubbing and also no staining! It is intensely berry, but there is no red stain! Great!

As for sharpening, it is very easy to sharpen, though the wood is a bit dense, so you will need a bit of force to actually sharpen the pencil.

Overall, this is another product that is better than I expected it to be! Misslyn hasn’t had bad products in the past so there was no reason to assume this pencil would be bad, though I didn’t think it would be great. And that’s exactly what it is! I love the soft, velvety look with the satin finish. It’s quite an elegant texture! It just makes the lips look nourished and soft. The pigmentation is great and the formula is so smooth and soft and easy to use! No tugging or pulling at all. It’s also quite long-lasting, well, unless you are eating a lot or having greasy meals. I don’t know, there’s just something unique about the way this pencil makes my lips look, it’s such a soft, nice look. I ended up actually liking it quite a lot! So, if you are looking for a berry lip pencil, this one is a good choice! Recommend it!
