New Stuff - Part 51

By Maychiri's Thoughts - December 14, 2024

What? You didn't think that the Advent Calendar would be the only thing I am reviewing, did you? It's still technically autumn, so I decided to also treat you all to one of the newer limited edition by Essence, the In the Bloom'light LE!

This limited edition came as a surprise to me; I check both Essence and Catrice's German website often, but sometimes, limited editions release before they are actually on the website. I don't know why this happens, but it creates these wonderful moments of happenstance, when I happen to be at DM or Müller at just the right time!

So, this was an autumn-coded limited edition, with these wonderful, dramatic colours that really hit the spot when I first saw the LE! I fell in love with the lip set - the entire set, lipgloss, lip liner and lipstick! Oh man, it would be so nice to have such a dramatic vampy lip! This dramatic lip combo is offset by a wonderfully light liquid eyeshadow, to add some floral airiness to an otherwise heavy look. There's also a blushlighter (blush + highlighter) that goes wonderfully with this whole colour story. It's definitely a very 'dark blooms' kind of colour story, which fits with the name! ...and then there's a purple eyeliner? I seriously have no idea how purple plays into this whole idea, but it's a gorgeous royal purple, so I won't complain. The thing that really doesn't fit, colour-wise, is the scrunchie. Like, the vibrant purple was already too different from all the rest, and now also a dark rich green?? How does that fit in?? If I had to grasp at straws, I could explain it by being green like the leaves of said night blossoms, I guess? So, not a completely thought-out limited edition, in terms of colours. It feels like it's been kinda... idk, rushed? Because it's a bit discombobulated.

In case you were wondering what I ended up buying from this LE, it's more than the intro photo displays. I did in fact buy the entire lip set... why is the lipstick absent, then? Well... I am 98% sure it had already gone rancid. Yup, it's literally fresh out the factory and it already smells like rancid wax. I decided to prioritise the well-being of my lips, so, as a precautionary measure, I threw it away. Not before trying to apply it to my lips, but it was so extremely waxy and impossible to spread, which, combined with the rancid smell, told me I am better off not risking using this. And you have no idea how much that pissed me off, as that isn't even the first dark Essence lipstick to be spoiled before being even opened for the first time! I guess there was a reason for them retiring specifically the Everyberry's Darling lip set (Soft & Precise Lip Liner + Hydra Matte Lipstick)... guess they just struggle to make functional dark lip products? Well, I was burned twice now, so I will know better in the future...

Sigh...

Oh, I also ended up buying the scrunchie, it's just too precious! Do I like scrunchies? Not a lot, but it's such a beautiful colour and it's also velvet... so luxurious! And I do enjoy having those cute bunny ears on top of my ponytails, it's adorable!

So, here is everything I bought from this LE - sans lipstick, of course:

Honestly, I am happy to finally show you this, simply for the reason that I myself can now throw away some of these rubbish products... I really don't want them anymore...

See you soon!
