S.he Colour&Style Quick'n Crazy Nail Polish [323 - 800] Review

By Maychiri's Thoughts - July 27, 2024

Another nail polish that I was given, this time it’s the S.he Colour&Style Quick'n Crazy Nail Polish, shade 323/800!

Another inspired choice by my mum. I normally don’t really wear turquoise nail polishes... idk, I just gravitate towards neutrals and lavender. But I will honour her effort by trying this nail polish. I'm... not a fan of S.he. Now, you won’t find me saying that all drugstore cosmetics are rubbish, as there are plenty that are shining diamonds, so to say. But there also has to be products on the other end of the spectrum, to keep the balance, and S.he very often falls into that end of the spectrum. A lot of S.he products are just not good, period. So, if I had had a choice, I would have replaced this nail polish with a different one. But still, it is what it is! So, I’ll try it out and tell you what I think, be it good or bad!

Packaging: little square bottle. It’s not very heavy. The text is silver metallic, which is fine on this colour. The text in the back is white, though, which is a much better choice! The cap is silver and metallic, which is cool until you realise that it is a fingerprint magnet. It becomes horribly smudgy within minutes. The cap closes tightly, perhaps even too tightly, as I often struggle to open it. So, a very simple design, perhaps a bit cheap, too.

Ingredients: nothing nourishing, 3-free (DBP, formaldehyde, toluene). The scent is like most nail polishes, but it is definitely more aggressive. The expiration date is 36 months after opening.

The brush is really not good. It’s a small flat brush, that should make it precise and easy to use, no? Well, no, because it’s not. It certainly picks up a lot pigment! Way too much, in fact! And it, for some reason, cannot apply it properly or something, because there are places where there’s no polish at all, and I’m going over them! Also, it applies it so messily! Argh, it’s so frustrating... and I got nail polish all over because it was impossible to make it neat with this brush. I don’t know why, the brush isn’t scuffed or frayed or anything. I know it’s mostly due to the formula, but this brush did not help matters.

Colour: well, if nothing else, at least it’s a very pretty colour! It’s a bright, vibrant turquoise that is perfect for the summer! And it’s a turquoise colour that looks exactly like the mineral turquoise, which is amazing! It’s a very, very bright and bold colour! You know, it actually looks good on my skin, I actually really like it.

The formula feels very cheap and it’s really not good. It’s thick and not very easy to spread evenly. In fact, even when I do manage to get it to be even, it gets these little specks where there’s no nail polish at all... even though I applied it there, and more than once. I don’t get it. And it’s infuriating. I had to make a huge mess all over my nails and cuticles just to get this damn thing to look even. This is not fun, not one bit.

One coat is very opaque but not totally as I can still see my nails peeking through. I wanted to leave it at one coat but since it’s so problematic, I will have to apply one more coat. Okay, so, with two coats it is totally opaque. It is also horrendously too thick. But at least it’s even now. The texture is very glossy, which looks very nice with this turquoise colour.

Longevity is... ah for frick’s sake, it chipped on the second day. Fml. It looked horrendous by the end of day 2DAY 2!! Jesus, this is bad. It continued chipping massively until I decided to remove it on day 4. No need to elaborate on how destroyed it was then, after a hair wash. It just looked horrible and disgustingly chipped and just all around hideously bad. Bleh. But hey, at least it doesn’t get scratched up...

It’s, thankfully, very easy to remove. Not a lot of rubbing needed to remove it completely, which is good for my nails, which are becoming more sensitive with each month. I was fully expecting it to stain my nails, but it doesn’t! My nails weren’t even a tiny bit more yellow after removing it. This is one of the few good things with this nail polish...

All in all, oh man this is bad. But like capital BAD. I knew going in that it wasn’t going to be a particularly good nail polish, but there’s just so much that’s bad that I don’t know where to start. The formula is thick and hard to work with, and, worst of all, somehow develops these little specks where there’s no polish?? Like, I go over that with the brush, but it still remains unpainted. What gives?! The brush isn’t very good, and it doesn’t really apply polish too well. I had to literally paint all over my cuticles just to get an even coat! This is unacceptable. And it’s too sheer with one coat but too thick with two... it’s really hard to find the right balance. But the worst thing about it is the longevity... or lack thereof. Because it starts to chip a lot within 24 hours of painting it. And it becomes so much worse with each day; by day 3 it was already pretty much destroyed. I didn’t have much to remove, at the end of it all. This is all, as you can see, horrible. But there is one or two good things about this polish: it doesn’t stain my nails yellow (like I thought it would), and the colour is actually quite pretty. It’s a lovely true turquoise, just like the mineral. It’s a lovely colour for summer, but it’s also good for spring! And it really does look lovely on pale skin! But... the colour being pretty doesn’t excuse everything else being rubbish, now does it? The only reason it’s getting anything more than a 2 is the colour being so lovely, otherwise it would have an even lower score. Trust me, it deserves this. Nope, no recommendation at all.
