Hiya!
The first set of reviews post Christmas! Hope you've all had a great Christmas, but it's now time to check out some of my Christmas presents from a few years back!
I like to start buying Christmas presents early, as early as October, so that I am not feeling any stress or pressure to buy them on time. This also allows me to snag cool Christmas sets right as they are released! Now, I buy presents for myself as I don't really receive Christmas presents from others anymore... instead of wallowing in self-pity because of that I decided to indulge in a little festive spirit and and wrap presents for me, myself and I. I feel like this is better for my mental state.
Here we have an assortment of various items, from shower salts, to makeup brushes, to full-on gift sets. Not all would end up under my Christmas tree; to be completely honest, only the two gift sets did. The other products I decided to use normally, without waiting for Christmas.
Out of all these, I will NOT be reviewing in-depth the two shower salts and the shower gel. Instead, I will give you a quick summary of my opinion of them here. The rest really deserve a true, full-length review. Also, the Balea It's Always Me-Time Duschsalz Peeling with white tea extract and white lotus scent was already reviewed in the past; you can check out my opinion of it here!
So... the other shower salt, the Balea It's Always Me-Time Duschsalz Peeling with green tea extract and mango scent. This one was even better than the white tea shower salt! The salt crystals are large, which makes it feel coarse and rough on skin - but not in a bad way. It definitely gives my skin a thorough scrub, no doubt about that! Although, it is slightly aggressive with how scratchy it is, which might make it a bit too harsh for sensitive skin. My skin is slightly red after washing off the salt, but it's not actually damaged. In fact, it feels supple and soft! Not at all dried out. Oh, and the scent, oh my!
It is extremely intense, but it smells fruity and exotic, just like mangoes! It's an amazing scent, super relaxing and soothing!
Next, the Balea Candy Kiosk Dusch Gel! This LE is something I have been dithering on for quite some time. Like, it was so cute, but I wasn't feeling the scents too much; like, I don't mind sweet scents, but these seemed like they would be sickeningly sweet. But then, once this entire LE went on sale I suddenly wanted to buy most of the LE... only, most of it sold out in record time. The only product I managed to find is this shower gel. It's quite a large bottle, enough for many showers. I love the cute design of the tube, it's so sweet and yummy! But the scent was indeed sickeningly sweet, sadly. It was supposed to smell like vanilla soft serve, and I guess it did... vanilla does smell sugary by nature I guess.
But it was just so sweet and synthetic and intense! The intensity was even worse in the hot atmosphere of the bathroom while showering. It doesn't stay on my skin after rising it off, which would usually be a bad thing, but I honestly like that my skin doesn't smell like synthetic vanilla. At least it has a pretty soft formula, not too gelly and not thin at all. And it was moderately hydrating as my skin did feel softer after using this shower gel. It's not an excellent shower gel, but it's alright.
