Garnier Hydra Bomb Night Super-Hydrating Repairing Sheet Mask Review
By Maychiri's Thoughts - December 07, 2023
Let’s take a look at another sheet mask because you can
never have too many face masks! The current mask we are checking out is the
Garnier Hydra Bomb Night Super-Hydrating Repairing Sheet Mask!
This was one of those times when my mum came and gave me a
bunch of sheet masks to choose which ones I wanted. I do not know why she does
this; I am more than capable of choosing the masks that I want, while she
doesn’t read the ingredients list but chooses masks based on other factors such
as the design of the pouch or what they promise on the packaging. I decided to
take this one because Hydra Bomb sheet masks have been good (excellent, even,
at times) in the past so I thought this one would be just as good. Anything
that is “super hydrating” is awesome, especially when my skin feels dehydrated
from the hot weather of summer. This is designed to be a night mask, but ha ha!
I always use sheet masks before bed so I am one step ahead! Anyways, is this
mask any good? Does it continue the good legacy of its siblings? Let’s see!
Packaging: a plastic pouch like most sheet masks. This one
is appropriately dark blue, good for night-time. It’s a really calming design
with the huge cornflower. White text – appropriate! All the information is in
the back and there is a whole lot of it! Lots of text, very busy back there! I
like the design of the pouch and how relaxing it is!
Ingredients: glycerine, arginine, cornflower (Centaurea
cyanus) flower water, lavender (Lavandula hybrida) oil, sea water/maris aqua,
hyaluronic acid for nourishment. No parabens. It’s odd, there’s obviously a lot
of water in this mask as it’s quite literally the first ingredient, but that’s
not deep sea water, but just purified water. Sea water is almost at the end of
the ingredients list which to me is slightly baffling.
Also, hyaluronic acid is
also down there at the bottom, do don’t expect miracles. The one good thing is
that the cornflower water is pretty high, so there’s at least a lot of that. Still,
not very impressed with the list, sigh. Ah, now this is a lovely scent! It
smells fresh, like freshly washed linen. It’s a fairly relaxing and soothing
scent, and I like that it’s not too intense. There’s also something almost
marine-like in the scent, I cannot quite put my finger on it, though. Aha! Deep sea water! That must be it! In any case, I like it, it’s appropriately gentle
for before you go to bed! The expiration date? What expiration date? Because,
as usual, there isn’t one anywhere on the pouch. You could of course punch in
the batch code and determine it that way, but that’s needlessly complicated
when they could have just printed out the damn thing. This mask should be left
on for 15 minutes, which is an alright amount of time.
The sheet is absolutely wonderful! It’s made of the softest
cotton, which is ideal for sensitive skin! It’s also super stretchy, which
makes it extremely easy to fit to the contours of your face. I thought it would
be too large because it really looked like that, but it’s actually not that
large at all! Because of that, there are fewer wrinkles on the sheet, leading
to fewer wrinkles on my skin as a result. If it fits my small face, you know it
is not huge!
Oh and it sticks to skin like superglue! Once you place it, it
won’t budge! This should ensure that the serum absorbs right. And it had so
much serum that it was literally dripping wet; it was heavy when I pulled it
out of the pouch! Garnier really isn’t stingy when it comes to the amount of
serum in their sheet masks! However, as soft as this sheet is, it is also
fairly non-breathable. The material is thick, maybe a bit too thick for me.
The serum is quite lightweight for how greasy it is. It’s
pretty watery but it feels so slippery and greasy. I like how light it is, but
I would prefer if it were slightly less greasy. Still, it feels nice! And it’s
not too tacky once it dries.
Okay, this is such a hydrating feeling, wow! It feels like I
am taking a dip in the sea, quenching every bit of thirst my skin might have. It
also feels soothing by way of being so deeply hydrating. There’s also a slight
cooling sensation which helps it feel even more soothing. This is good if you
use it at night, before going to bed; it’s adequately relaxing to help lull you
into dreams! Night, night!
After the 15 minutes are over the results aren’t bad at all!
My skin definitely looks and feels deeply hydrated, that’s for sure! Hydra bomb
is the right name, as my skin is literally wet! It also feels chilled, but not
in a menthol-like way, it’s like a profoundly relaxing cool feeling. It’s also
visibly brighter and seems more refreshed and more balanced. My pores don’t
look much more narrow, but I like how my skin looks in general. It’s not visibly
relaxed like they claim, though, because all pimples are still just as red and
inflamed and painful. Maybe it will look better in the morning. So it might
work better on people who don’t have quite as many (or as severe) blemishes as
I do. Still, I like the results either way!
My skin seems to be a bit more calm the next day. However,
blemishes are just like they were when I removed the sheet the night before. I
am satisfied, though.
Overall, well, not exactly as good as some in the Hydra Bomb
range, but it is still very good! There are many things to love with this mask,
the sheet being one. It’s super soft and stretchy and sticks to skin incredibly
well, ensuring that your skin gets all the serum it can absorb. Speaking of,
the serum is pretty greasy and slippery like soap. However, it still feels
lightweight despite that. It feels sooo hydrating while it is absorbing! There’s
also a relaxing cool sensation that is perfect before bed. Not like menthol,
but a gentle cooling to help calm you down. The results aren’t terribly
impressive, but they are still good, all things considered. To get this out of
the way first, no, this mask doesn’t do anything to combat blemishes and calm
them down in any significant way. So, it’s definitely not meant for acne-prone
skin, at least in terms of helpfulness. It doesn’t cause any irritations, so
it’s not like it’s bad for sensitive, acne-prone skin, it just doesn’t help too
much. However, what it does do is hydrate the skin! And it does that
impressively well! Hydra bomb is a good name for this; it really is like a bomb
chock-full of hydration exploded right on top of the skin, letting it be deeply
hydrated throughout the night. This leads to the skin seeming a bit more calm
in the morning, and definitely more balanced and even. Blemishes are still just
as bad though. And that’s exactly why I don’t like this sheet masks as much as
I do some other Garnier masks. I wish it could help with my acne, but because
it can’t I have to be careful in which part of the cycle I use it. This is most
definitely not a sheet mask you'd use during PMS! So yeah, a bit of
disappointment there... but I really love the deep hydration, so it’s all well.
I will recommend it to dry skin and sensitive (but not acne-prone) skin;
otherwise, you’d be better off finding a more calming sheet mask.
