And lastly, the Catrice Power Plumping Gel Lipstick, in the
shade 070/For the Brave.
Guess what shade this is, again? Yep, it’s another hot pink
shade. But what drew me to this lipstick wasn’t the colour, but the claim that
it can make lips look plumper, and without menthol! My lips are very sensitive
to mint oil/menthol and it can cause a slight allergic reaction, so I tend to
try to avoid menthol in lip products.
The packaging: very elegant; rose gold reflective plastic,
with rose gold text. The cap is black plastic, slightly less reflective than
the rose gold parts. Just the packaging makes it look more expensive than it
really was! On the bottom there is the shade number, and it matches the colour
of the bullet for easy swatching without opening the product.

Ingredients: for nourishment there’s hyaluronic acid and
peptides. And as usual for Catrice, there are no parabens. The scent is
intense, quite sweet, and floral; it reminds me of roses. The lipstick bullet
is embossed with the words “Catrice” and “Be Brave”; I really like that Catrice
decided to put that inspiring message on the bullet, it’s a very nice touch.
Expiration date is 36 months after opening.

The pigmentation is… okay, I guess? It’s definitely not the
most pigmented lipstick out there, which is a shame as the colour is so pretty.
It’s quite a heavy, almost greasy formula but it feels surprisingly light on
lips, at least for something that’s so gel-like and heavy when you first apply
it. The texture is satin, very glossy, it almost looks kind of wet. No surprise then that it is not at all drying
for your lips. I do have to mention that it was a bit weird when I applied it;
the pigment looked like it was unevenly spread, almost patchy looking in
places. Sure, spreading it with my lips fixed it but it was odd that such a
gel-like formula would be so difficult to apply evenly.

Staying power is also not great; I noticed that it started
to fade quite a bit during the ~6h that I had it on. As one might guess, such a
greasy formula does not survive meals at all. So, fixing it is a must
post-meal. At least this lipstick takes no time whatsoever to remove, just one
swipe with micellar water and that’s it!
In summary: I really thought that this would be an
all-around great, hydrating lipstick. But it has got a ton of flaws, from how
it’s not terribly long-lasting, to the pigmentation being slightly pale, to the
worst thing of all: uneven application. The beautiful colour and hyaluronic
acid in its composition does not compensate for these flaws. So, yeah, I am
disappointed with this lipstick, at least with this shade. But for those who
like lip stains more than lipstick, well, this might be the product for them! I, however, will not be giving it any sort of recommendation, as I really dislike it.

Would buy again? NO (not this shade at least)
