Catrice Eyebrow Stylist Eyebrow Pencil [025/Perfect BROWn] Review

By Maychiri's Thoughts - October 27, 2021

Onto the second item, the Catrice Eyebrow Stylist Eyebrow Pencil, shade 025/Perfect BROWn.

The first eyebrow pencil I owned (I have quite a few nowadays), and still one of my all-time favourites.

This being the first, I kinda took a shot in the dark when choosing the right shade. Luckily, I chose the perfect one (just like the shade name implies!).

The packaging: nothing special, just a wooden pencil with a spoolie on one end. The colour of the pencil externally is a very close match to the colour of the pencil itself.  I really like that Catrice decided to use silver for the text, it’s so easy to read against the dark brown colour of the pencil. The cap fits snugly over the pencil tip, but on the other side, the cap fits somewhat loosely over the spoolie, but not as much as to fall off on its own.

This pencil has vitamin E, and that’s the only nourishing ingredient you will find here. What you will not find is parabens, thankfully. The scent is faint, but waxy. The expiration date is 36 months after opening.

This is a joy to apply; it just glides, depositing a very even layer of pigment. If sharpened properly it is really precise. Speaking of said pigment, it is not all that highly pigmented, so a few layers might be necessary to get proper rich pigmentation. But that of course might also be due to the fact that the shade matches my brows so well.

I must say that it feels very soft on my brows, it doesn’t feel waxy as some pencils do. The staying power is excellent; no matter what I am doing or how much I am sweating it stays in place, even after 7-8 hours, and doesn’t smudge all that much, if at all. And that is high praise given my oily skin.

When you want to remove it just use regular ol’ micellar water, it’s super easy to remove.

Now, this pencil will (naturally) have to be sharpened from time to time. Sharpening it is as easy as 1-2-3. Just a few turns in the sharpener and it is back to being sharp and pointy, and I have not had it break even once, so far. So, the formula of this pencil is very high quality; in fact, despite it being a bit waxy, you don’t need to sharpen it after each use, you can get 2, maybe 3 uses before it becomes to blunt to use precisely.

And the spoolie: it’s stubby and a bit short. The bristles are tightly packed together and even though they are not the scratchiest they also aren’t the softest bristles you could find. Nevertheless, they do a fine job of shaping unruly brows and blending the pigment of the pencil. It’s a nice spoolie, but not best out of all the ones I own.

In conclusion: there’s really not much to dislike about this pencil. I simply adore it; from how buildable it is, to how long-lasting it is and especially to how natural it looks, it’s a drugstore treasure! The negative would be that the spoolie could be softer. Luckily, unlike a ton of Catrice products, this pencil hasn’t been discontinued yet, nor has this shade, so there’s still time to go find your next (possibly) favourite eyebrow product. I highly recommend it!
