Alverde Color & Care Nail Polish [30 - Bridal Beige] Review
By Maychiri's Thoughts - May 09, 2025
The only review today, and something I did not think I would
try any time soon: this is the Alverde Color & Care Nail Polish, in the
shade 30/Bridal Beige!
So... when Alverde first launched these nail polishes, I was
really interested in them. A blend of both colour and care? Sounds
awesome... until I realised that Alverde makeup tends to, well, not be too good
in quality. So I shelved it back deep into my mind. But then, I happened to
have a coupon for extra points on DM's loyalty card if I bought Alverde
products... hmm, if only there was something I was interested in... like this
nail polish! This was a good opportunity as any to finally try it out, even
though I don’t typically use much ‘natural’ cosmetics/makeup. Out of all the
colours, I, predictably, chose the most boring one. This is my comfort zone,
haha! I am not holding out too much hope, but let’s still check out this nail
polish and see if it is actually any good!
Packaging: rectangular bottle that is waaay more wide than
thick, so it looks amusing from the side profile. The bottle is nothing
special; it just has the Alverde logo and name of this polish range in the
front, in black text. Black is easier to read, but it is a bit harsh on this
gentle... wait... pink? Beige? It’s like in-between the two. The back has the
information sticker. The cap is dark green, as is typical for Alverde products,
they really like this dark green colour. I guess it is to signify that this is
a ‘natural’ nail polish? In any case, the green adds a nice bit of colour and
fits very nicely with the colour of the nail polish. The cap closes extremely
tightly. There’s also a little bitty sticker that says that this polish is made
of at least 80% plant-based ingredients – how about that?
Ingredients: buckwheat (Polygonum fagopyrum) seed extract,
vitamin E, zinc sulfate for nourishment. 3-free (DBP, formaldehyde, toluene). Also,
diatomaceous earth and Lithothamnion calcareum extract! This ingredients list
is, supposedly, 80% plant-based. It looks fairly standard to me. Though I do like
the inclusion of buckwheat and zinc sulfate, to help care for the nails and
make them strong. So maybe it truly is both colour and care? The scent is similar
to most other nail polishes, though a bit more vinegary. It doesn’t really
smell like ‘natural’ nail polishes. The expiration date is 24 months after
opening.
Colour: while this polish appears to be light beige in the
bottle, that is far from how it looks on the nails. In actuality, it is a very
subtle, gentle light pink colour, not beige. It is distinctly pinkish. But a
very sheer kind of pink. Also, incredibly elegant! Now, I am not going to get
married any time soon, but this colour is perfect for weddings, for the bride! And
it looks so good on pale skin! It is almost the same colour as my skin, but
just a tad more pink, which, combined with the gloss, makes this nail polish
perfect for any occasion – especially formal ones! It looks best on slightly
longer nails with 2 coats; that’s how you get a glazed nails finish with this
polish.
I honestly never thought this colour would be so pretty! Is it a boring
colour? Absolutely, but two things can be true at the same time. That doesn’t
detract from its beauty. It’s meant to be subtle. And yes, I think I would wear
this colour or something similar to it on my wedding, if it ever happens, haha!
Brush: flat brush, medium-sized. The brush is actually
really good! It picks up a huge amount of polish, but, even though the formula
is thin, the excess needs to be tapped off. The brush applies the polish
phenomenally evenly, so you really only need 2-3 swipes until it is perfectly
applied. It is also very precise, so it’s not too hard to apply the polish
cleanly, without having a huge mess all around the nails. The brush seems to be
high quality as well. Now, this, I did not expect!
Okay, I know this is a ‘natural’ nail polish, but I did not
think it would be this watery! The formula is thin and watery, but it
has a hint of gelliness. This helps it avoid being runny. The formula applies
super evenly, even if you aren’t trying! It also doesn’t feel goopy at any
point. While I dislike the thinness, I really like how easy to use this polish
is! Wow!
Uhh, one coat is completely sheer and almost colourless.
It’s just glossy. I guess I get it, clear glossy nails are a popular choice for
weddings. And besides, this allows the nail polish to be worn with pretty much
anything. So it’s useful! And it applies completely evenly, so you could
absolutely leave it like this. I, on the other hand, will apply a second coat
to see what changes – if anything. Oh, things do actually change! With two
coats, it is still semi-opaque, but it’s much more opaque than sheer now. I’d
say that it’s about 80% opaque now. Nails have an almost glazed nail kind of
look to them now, which, along with the gentle pinkish colour, looks extremely
elegant!
Like, this is so incredibly elegant! And it is 100% even! I wasn’t
even trying particularly hard to make it even, it just applied this way. Of
course, if you wanted your nails to be completely opaque, you could add a 3rd
coat – the formula is thin enough for this – but I honestly would leave it at
2. I think it looks perfect with two coats! The texture is highly glossy.
Longevity is actually incredible! It managed to stay without
any chips for 4 days, and I wasn’t careful with my nails, I’ll tell you that!
It started to chip a little bit on day 4, but I wasn’t even sure if that was
damage or not because it blended with my natural nail so well. But no, it was
actually a chipped off part. It chipped more on the following (and last) day,
but, again, the damage was barely visible. This is great if you accidentally
chip it while out somewhere, no one will know you chipped it! It also conceals
scratches so well that I only notice them if I squint and look very, very
closely at my nail. The scratches are tiny and shallow, and there isn’t really
a whole bunch of them, so the highly glossy texture is preserved for days and
days. Wow!
But there has to be something bad: it can peel off if water gets
under the nail polish. It becomes cloudy and has a tendency of lifting if that
happens. I managed to prevent it from totally coming off by pressing down on
it, but this is still a flaw. Still, if this is the only notable negative thing
about the longevity, I’ll take it! Because I was expecting it to chip massively
from the second day, so it having such good longevity is astonishing! It even
stayed in good shape after a hair wash!
Ah, I am so happy that this nail polish is this easy to
remove! Just one swipe and it is almost completely gone! And, of course, since
it is such a neutral colour, no stains, either!
In conclusion, well, colour me impressed! I was preparing
mentally for a lot of negativity, but, instead, I was met with do much
greatness! Not everything is great, of course, but there’s more great things to
say about this polish than I expected. Let’s focus on the worse things so that
we can end on a positive note, though. The formula is way too thin and watery
for me, though it isn’t runny. It is quite easy to use, precisely because it
isn’t runny, but also because it applies evenly. So while I may not like the
thickness, it is actually a pretty good formula objectively. Second not too
amazing thing is that this nail polish isn’t immune to scratches in the absence
of a protective top coat. However, the scratches are barely visible, so this
actually isn’t a problem. They also don’t diminish the lovely high gloss of the
polish. There’s really not much more that could be called ‘bad’, so let’s move on to
the good! Such as the colour! This was supposed to be a beige colour, but,
actually, it is light pink with two coats. With one coat it is totally sheer so
you cannot see any colour, but with two, it becomes so elegant! Perfect for
weddings! Or any other occasion, really, be it formal or casual. Such a
timeless colour! And I feel like it would look great on a wide variety of
skintones. I also love how it looks very much like the glazed nails trend! The
formula is lightweight, so you can add anywhere between 1-3 coats, depending on
how opaque you want the polish to be. The longevity is another good thing; it
lasts for at least 3-4 days before it starts to chip, but even when it does
chip, it isn’t really visible thanks to the neutral colour. And the brush is
way better than I thought it would be! Really, the only thing that truly
bothers is the thin formula, oh, and I guess, the fact that the polish may being
to look cloudy a few days in while you are washing the dishes or showering.
This is, I think, water getting inside the nail polish, which isn’t good, but I
was able to keep it from separating so it’s all well. But everything aside from
that is honestly a real surprise – in the best way! I went into this expecting
a relatively bad nail polish – and trust me, the thin formula did nothing to
assuage my fears of that – but in the end, what I got was a very competent nail
polish! Such a shame that they seem to be discontinuing it... but it was more than
worth trying out! Huh, an Alverde product that is this excellent? Miracles do
happen sometimes! I will absolutely recommend it - if you'd believe it!
