Avon Care Blooming Garden Soothing Moisture Hand Cream with Jasmine & Glycerine Review
By Maychiri's Thoughts - January 12, 2024
Dry hands means that there’s need for a good hand cream! So,
let’s check this one out – the Avon Care Blooming Garden Soothing Moisture Hand
Cream with Jasmine & Glycerine (that was a mouthful)!
This is a limited edition version of Avon's standard hand
cream with jasmine & glycerine. It was super cheap and I always need hand
creams, especially in summer, and this one seemed like it would be nice. So,
how good is it? Let’s see!
Packaging: I quite like the design of the tube! In general,
it’s just your average hand cream tube with a cap that closes tightly with a
click, but the LE design makes it so much prettier! The calming pink flower
illustrations with the navy text makes it look almost like a work of art! Way
better than the standard design!
Ingredients: glycerine, vitamin E for nourishment. No
parabens. Hmm, just those two? I am not sure this will be enough. The scent is
honestly amazing! In some ways it smells like freshly washed laundry! It’s super
fresh and calming, and it’s not even too intense! It somewhat smells like
jasmine, as there is a noticeable floral tone to the scent. But it is mostly
fresh. I had no idea it would smell anything like this, this is great! The
expiration date is 12 months after opening.
This is just your standard white cream in terms of colour.
This cream is pretty greasy but it manages to still feel
lightweight. It’s a silky formula that feels quite nice. After it dries it
becomes soft, not at all tacky or waxy.
Okay, so, this cream absorbs super fast! It feels silky on
my skin, especially after it absorbs, which is nice! It feels moderately
hydrating, at least at first. However, as it absorbs so quickly, my skin is
back to feeling slightly dry soon after applying the cream. Is my skin softer,
like advertised? Yes, for a while. However, it is not hydrating enough for my
hands, especially in summer. I tend to develop flaky, terribly dry skin in
summer which needs extra-strength creams to have any sort of effect on it, and
this cream isn’t that, unfortunately. Even without that flaking this cream
isn’t hydrating enough, no matter how nicely silky it feels.
Indeed, my hands feel relatively dry the next morning (I
apply hand creams before going to sleep). It’s like I haven’t used anything.
The flaky part of my skin usually manages to be healed by morning, but I would
still like to feel the cream in the morning. Perhaps people with normal skin
would enjoy it more, my weird, complicated skin is probably too needy for this
cream.
Overall, the gorgeous design notwithstanding, this cream is
sadly not too effective at solving dry skin problems. It’s not a bad cream in
any way, but it is just not strong enough for my skin. This is especially
apparent in summer when I develop what looks like keratolysis exfoliativa,
which needs super strength creams to hydrate it properly. This cream is super
lightweight and feels silky and smooth on skin, and man does it absorb fast, but
it’s just not terribly hydrating. As soon as it absorbs, the silky feeling is
more-or-less gone, although my skin does still feel soft for some time. But
when I wake up, my hands are dry again, showing that this cream cannot survive
the night. It helps with my dry skin a tiny bit. Although, the scent is so
calming when you use the cream before bed! It’s such a zen scent! It smells
floral, like jasmine, but it is not overpowering, instead, it is a gentle scent
sure to soothe your mind and body! Sadly, that’s the only thing that’s truly
soothed, as I don’t see much of a difference (positive or negative) having used
the cream for a month and a half. I won’t recommend it to anyone who has even
remotely dry skin or who has skin problems like I do (keratolysis exfoliativa,
psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema...). But, if you have normal skin, or even
slightly oily skin, perhaps you’ll find this cream works better for you. Such a
shame, because it is truly beautiful!
Rating: 5.5/10
Would buy again? Maybe YES (in like spring or autumn)
