Hi!
The only product for today is a makeup remover; this is the
Nivea Rose Touch Micellar Wash Gel.
So, Nivea put me in a bit of a pickle when they discontinued
their outstanding oil remover. That thing was out of this world amazing! But
now that it’s no longer available I had to go find a suitable replacement. After
a lot of exploring, I found a few removers that might be promising. Among them
was, again, a Nivea remover, but this time a wash gel, instead of an oil
remover. Rose Touch has, so far, been quite a good range of products; the daily
moisturiser is alright, albeit too heavy for my oily skin, but the bi-phase
micellar water is literally my favourite micellar water! I refuse to buy any
other, that one is perfect for my skin! So I thought that a wash gel from the
Rose Touch range might be at least good, if not great! And in my basket it went!
Let’s see how it performs and if it holds up to the level of quality the other
Rose Touch products have set!
Packaging: as with the other Rose Touch products, this one,
too, is rose pink! And it’s such a gentle, elegant shade of rose, too! This is
a plastic tube with a cap that closes securely, with absolutely no leaking. I
love the dark blue text on the soft rose colour, it’s much better than if it
were black! While it is a simple packaging, there’s something that takes it
from just simple to very pretty: the giant rose on the front. It’s the perfect
touch to add a dash of elegance to the tube! I love the design, most of all the
soft rose colour of it!
Ingredients: glycerine, Damask rose (Rosa damascena) flower
water for nourishment. No parabens. The rose water is organically sourced. It
might seem like there isn’t much that would help the skin feel better, but just
you wait, you’ll see how good the results are! The scent is quite intense. It
smells soapy, quite salty but also very much like roses. Even though it is
intense, I really like this scent. I don’t know, I have always loved the smell
of roses, and this does smell like roses! But I can see how it might be too
intense to some people. The expiration date is 12 months after opening.
Colour: this is a colourless gel. It’s clear, not at all
cloudy. It looks like most gels, to be honest.
The formula of this cleanser is actually very nice! While it
is absolutely gelly, it is super easy to spread across the skin. It’s smooth
and not really greasy; definitely soapy, though. Very soapy. This gel does not
foam up, but it still cleans thoroughly, thanks to micelles. This formula just
sucks up all makeup from the skin, it’s like a magnet! Quite a thick gel, too,
which makes it even more wonderful that it manages not to be horribly heavy.
This formula might be a tiny bit too thick and gelly for my oily skin, but if the
price of being extraordinarily good at removing makeup is for the formula to be
gelly and soapy, then so be it! I will gladly accept the trade-off!
So, I’ve already said how extremely gelly and soapy this gel
is. That’s exactly what it feels like on my skin: a thick, relatively heavy gel
that can start to feel occlusive if you leave it for too long for whatever
reason. I would like it more if it was a lighter gel, but I don’t really mind
it. It can feel like it is clogging up pores, but, rest assured, that’s not
happening. This is a non-comedogenic gel; I should know, having acne-prone
skin! On some ways, it can feel pleasant how gelly it is while you are removing
makeup, because of how it just slides across skin picking up all makeup along
the way. Most gel-type formulas tend to be at least slightly heavy and
uncomfortable, though. It’s just the nature of it being a gel!
“Removes waterproof makeup without harsh scrubbing.”, that’s
what Nivea promises. Well I can tell you that that’s 100% true! No matter what
kind of makeup, it all comes off incredibly easily! Just wet your face and then
apply a small dollop of the gel and start gently moving in circular motions
across your face. Sooner than you even realise all makeup will have just melted
off into the soapy gel! Eyeliners, mascara, liquid lipsticks; hell, even
foundation, which can be notoriously difficult to remove, comes off in a heartbeat! Glitter doesn’t even stand a chance against this wash gel! Better
yet, since this gel is meant to be washed off, that rinses off all the glitter
so that you don’t have to spend ages meticulously removing every single piece
of it! Right, so after you are done gently rubbing your face just wash it all
off with warm water. I prefer to use the shower head as I feel the increased
water pressure gives me a better cleanse, but you can, of course, also use
water from the tap! This gel is extremely easy to wash off, like, it only takes
a few seconds under running water and my face is squeaky clean!
Well, maybe not squeaky in the most literal sense, since it
is incredibly soft when I touch it! My skin feels deeply cleansed, that much is
certain, but it also feels calmed down and soothed. It also feels incredibly
hydrated and refreshed! And boy does it look clean and even and just happy, in
general! It’s in such excellent condition after washing off the gel, I couldn’t
believe it the first time! Since this gel is so hydrating, my skin isn’t at all
dried out; what’s more, it stays hydrated and soft for hours! It seems like it
becomes less oily over time, too! Like it’s been deeply balanced. My skin has
never been quite as soft after removing makeup! It’s astonishingly good on my
oily skin! So, see, even just rose water can do wonders in a properly balanced
formula!
However, this gel might be a bit too heavy for dry skin. It
is perfect for oily, sensitive skin, though, and it doesn’t cause any
breakouts. It's also not suitable for the eyes; it makes my eyes burn if it gets in them. To be fair, it does say "Face - Lips", not "Face - Lips - Eyes".
In conclusion: I really, really love this wash gel! Such a
shame that it cannot be used on the eyes, though! Finally, a perfect makeup
remover after the old Nivea oil remover. I had struggled to find a suitable
replacement that would both remove even the most hard-core makeup and hydrate
and calm down my skin at the same time. I know I am asking for a lot. But this
wash gel has proven to do all that and so much more! The formula isn’t too
heavy, at least it isn’t for my oily skin, and it feels nicely gelly and soapy.
You can really feel how it penetrates the skin, removing every trace of makeup!
Just remember to wet your face first! I sometimes forget to do that, clumsy me!
However, that doesn’t prevent the gel from working as intended, oh no! It still
works perfectly fine even if you apply it to dry skin! It does work slightly
better on moist/wet skin, though, that allows the micelles to really pick up
all the make up and dirt. By far the best thing happens after you wash off the
gel; my skin was left feeling hydrated, refreshed and much calmer than before!
It also looked even and hydrated and thoroughly clean. It’s not something you
can see, but my skin becomes velvety soft after washing off the gel! It’s like
a miracle: from makeup on my already oily skin, to velvety soft, matte skin in
only a minute! My skin feels much happier when I use this gel, and not just for
a short while, it’s a long-lasting effect! Now, if only I could use it on my
eyes! That’s really the only thing that I could find to complain about, but
it’s not fair to the gel, as it was never even meant to be used on the eyes.
Alas, I will have to use another remover just for my eyes. So, all in all, this
is an almost perfect makeup remover for oily skin! It’s so wonderful that I
feel sad that it’s nearly used up! I will miss it dearly! Well, until I buy it
again, that is, as this seems like it will be a mainstay in my collection, like
the last Nivea remover. Nivea really knows how to make brilliant makeup
removers, huh? And this is another home-run for the Rose Touch range of
products, proving just how good that line is! Bravo, Nivea! Since it’s become
my favourite makeup remover, I will happily give it my top recommendation!
