Essence Repair Nail Oil Nails & Cuticles Nourisher Review

By Maychiri's Thoughts - April 12, 2023

Hi!

The second review for today is this Essence Repair Nail Oil Nails & Cuticles Nourisher (boy, what a long name!).

I really like to paint my nails and test out various different nail polishes, which sometimes leaves my nails feeling brittle and dry. I thought that the hand creams that I use would be enough, but it turns out that my nails sorely need a nail oil. So, after browsing DM's online shop I found this oil and I thought that I might as well start with Essence (especially since this oil is literally named Repair Nail Oil, so it seemed like the logical choice for my, you know, damaged nails), see how good it is, and if I don’t like it then move on to more expensive oils. This was the first nail oil I ever used. So, did I like it?

Packaging: quite simple, just a round clear glass bottle with a yellow cap. The cap closes super tightly so no need to worry about the oil spilling.

Sourve: dm.hr

Ingredients: sweet almond (Prunus amygdalus dulcis) oil, argan (Argania spinosa) kernel oil for nourishment. No parabens. The scent is subtle but quite interesting, I must say! It’s kind of citrusy, but then it also smells oriental, kind of what argan oil products usually tend to smell like. It’s also very, very sweet. I like it, it’s kind of relaxing. The expiration date is 18 months after opening.

The colour of the oil is yellowish in the bottle, but it’s clear on nails. It’s a kind of lemony yellow colour, but paler.

The brush is excellent! It’s a large flat brush that is big enough to coat my entire nail with oil in just one swipe. This brush reminds me of Catrice’s nail polish brushes because of how good it is! It’s also quite easy to be precise with it, despite the size.

The formula is oily but it’s not really heavy. I can feel it on my nails but it doesn’t feel like it’s suffocating them. It definitely feels very nourishing, especially on the cuticles. Surprisingly, it actually dries and absorbs fast, despite feeling so oily! I do notice that my nails feel better and less brittle when I regularly use this nail oil and my cuticles aren’t as swollen and sensitive. So it definitely repairs nails, at least in my case!

Of course, since this is just a nail oil, don’t expect it to be extremely long-lasting. It can be washed off with water, so it won’t survive a shower or doing the dishes. That’s not a problem though, as it is recommended to reapply nail oil multiple times per day anyways. What matters is that it absorbs so fast that it won’t get messed up by the blanket when I apply it prior to going to bed.

All in all, as my first nail oil ever, I am very satisfied! I noticed positive results from using this nail oil as my nails were in better condition, generally speaking, which of course helps nail polish look better on them. It also helps tremendously when I shorten my nails too much and feel a great deal of pain in my fingertips, I apply the oil onto the painful area and within minutes my fingertips hurt less. It’s also really good for my cuticles, they look much more calm and smooth than how they usually look (cracked, red, swollen). The brush is excellent and super easy to use. Of course, YMMV with this nail oil depending on the nature and condition of your nails, but I definitely think it would be worth to try this nail oil! It’s not expensive at all, and is surprisingly good for the price. I do think I will recommend it!
