Catrice More Than Nude Nail Polish [12 - Glowing Rose] Review

By Maychiri's Thoughts - January 11, 2023

Hello!

This time I only have one review, and it’s the Catrice More Than Nude Nail Polish, in the shade 12/Glowing Rose.

This is the first More Than Nude polish that I bought. I bought it because it seemed like it would be a good nude colour for when my nails are too short for bright, vibrant colours.

Packaging: just a large rectangular clear glass bottle with a ribbed black cap that closes very tightly. The glass feels heavy and well-made. There’s also a rose gold decorative cap that can fool you if you aren’t used to Catrice’s design of nail polishes. It’s an elegant design, in my opinion.

Ingredients: three free (DBP, formaldehyde, toluene) and nothing nourishing either. The scent is really just your typical nail polish scent, nothing particularly different about it. The expiration date is 24 months after opening.

The colour is a really gorgeous nude rose that looks like it has the finest gold shimmer in the bottle, even though I can’t really see it on my nails. Honestly, I think it’s even better like this; the gold shimmer would just feel unnecessarily tacky. It’s the perfect nude shade for short nails and looks lovely on pale skin. Judging by how much I have already used it, it’s obvious that I like it quite a lot!

The brush is, like with all Catrice nail polishes, simply fantastic. It is a wide flat brush that is big enough to coat my entire nail in just one or two swipes. It picks up a lot of polish and spreads it wondrously evenly, making the application a joy!

The formula is thin and kind of gelly. It’s not at all tacky or goopy, no, it feels silky while applying it, and it’s super easily spread. So that means that this is a gel-type nail polish, and, indeed, it feels like rubber when I rub my nails. I really like this formula as it’s so easy to work with. One coat was totally translucent, just with a faint pinkish tone to my nails. With two (thicker) coats I got decent coverage, although it’s still pretty sheer. I don’t mind it; it looks pretty natural, and enhances the beauty of the nails. Besides, it was marketed as a “light transparent nude” nail polish, and that’s exactly what it is. The texture is quite glossy but usually gets rather scratched up quite fast, so a top coat is a must if you want to keep the high gloss.

The staying power is phenomenal! After four days of wearing it I did not see any chipping or cracking, even after a hair wash! It looked like it was in mint condition, aside from the tiny scratches on the surface that are the result of me not using a top coat during testing. It’s a wonder that it is so freaking durable; I love it!

The removal is super easy, you don’t have to rub too hard to remove it and there isn’t any staining or residual shimmer. Wonderful!

To sum up, this is a bloody excellent nail polish, ideal for when you want a subtle rose wash of colour but still keep your nails sheer. It’s also ideal for tiny or short nails. The formula is actually a gel type, but it’s really thin for a gel polish. Nevertheless, it’s absolutely a joy to use since it’s very easily spread and it’s almost impossible to make it look uneven. The brush is, as always, simply fantastic! And, to add to its awesomeness, this polish is literally endlessly long-lasting. Frequent usage of hand disinfectant, washing my hair, using household chemicals (like Domestos, for example)... nothing made it chip, crack or peel off. True, there are a ton of tiny little scratches on the surface, like with some other gel nail polishes, but it doesn’t take away from its beauty. This polish is the one I have used the most so far, and it’s obvious why! It’s just an all-around fantastic nail polish, so obviously, I definitely recommend it!
