Catrice Maxim Giacomo in Colours Face Brush Review

Finally, let’s move on to the prezzie! This is the Catrice Maxim Giacomo in Colours Face Brush!

BIPA had an interesting promotion where, if you bought any 2 Catrice products, you’d get a brush as a gift with purchase! Best thing about it? Catrice was in the middle of retiring a good chunk of their products to free up space for the new Fall/Winter 2023 product launch... so lots of items that are 50% off to pick for this promo! Yay! Apparently there were 3 brushes you could get, in reality you had the option of choosing one. The BIPA I was at had only two of the three brushes, both of the face brushes. I decided to get this huge brush because I am always looking for a good powder brush; the other one was a flat contour brush. Wait a minute... these brushes look familiar. Right! They were part of the Fall in Colours/Maxim Giacomo in Colours LE! That was a nice collection. Funnily enough, I almost bought this exact brush when the LE was still new. Good thing I didn’t! So, let’s check out this absolutely ginormous brush!

Packaging: the brush comes in a large (well it is a large brush so...) plastic tube that keeps it safe. There’s a sponge on the bottom of the tube where the brush inserts; this keeps it in place. It’s a nice way to keep the brush from being damaged, even if it is incredibly simple and not at all classy. On the bottom cap you’ll find information about this product.

The brush itself is really gorgeous! And boy is it huge! This is surely in the top 3 largest brushes I own! My family jokes that it is actually a paintbrush for painting walls! But... it’s actually very, very light! Thank god, imagine how heavy it would be! I love its design! It’s solid gold (coloured) and metallic, which, while it is stunning, it is also a magnet for fingerprints. It gets covered in them like instantly. Anyways, that is annoying, but eh. It’s also sculpted, both the handle and the ferrule. This gives it a very architectural shape. The brush head is astonishingly huge, as mentioned, but it is also quite dense! Like, there must be more than a few thousand hairs in here! The brush feels very well-built, with no loose parts. A real beauty, this one!

The hairs are synthetic. They are fairly shiny, but they don’t look very cheap or plastic. There were a few hairs that were frayed, which isn’t too bad once you realise just how many hairs there are here (I plucked them because they were getting on my nerves). Besides that, the hairs are cut perfectly evenly. They are rich brown with even darker brown hairs mixed in to make it look like natural hair. It certainly looks rich and luxe. The hairs are ultra soft, no matter the motion you are using (swirling, tapping... etc). This makes it sooo comfortable and lovely to use! It’s super relaxing! And perfect for sensitive skin like mine! It’s luxurious in every sense of the word!

As for how it applies pigments? Very well! It picks up a really good amount of powder form the pan and then deposits it evenly and richly across the face. Its supersized brush head means it can easily cover the whole face evenly in setting powder. This makes it extremely easy to use, much more than many other powder brushes. It always applies a good, even layer that doesn’t look cakey. It also blends extremely well, as it blends out powders in seconds, making them look soft and like they are bleeding into the skin. This means that it can also be used to fix mistakes with blushes/bronzers/contouring, just swipe for a moment or two and it will all be perfectly blended out! However, this all means that it is definitely not suited for blushes or contouring, no way. Bronzers maaaaybee?? But it is made to be used with powders, such as setting powders. It’s truly fantastic to use!

It is easy to wash, even if it doesn’t seem like it would be given its huge brush head. It doesn’t absorb shampoo; great, because I really thought it would! There’s a tiny bit of fall-out (just one hair so far) and it keeps its shape after a wash.

In conclusion, wow, what a wonderful present! While I am sure BIPA decided to give these brushes as presents because it was leftover stock, man, is it awesome! It’s beautiful, having a gold metallic handle and ferrule, looking like yellow autumn leaves. The hairs are high quality and look stunningly natural, they are dark brown with even darker brown hairs mixed in, to make it as natural-looking as possible. It’s also ultra soft! It’s so soft that it feels luxurious to use, it’s just so comfy! But it also picks up a lot of powder and applies it almost perfectly! It’s an even and thick layer to ensure your finish is fabulous. Indeed, setting powder looks great when applied with this brush! It blends extremely well, too! It’s child’s play to make everything look perfectly blended out and flawless! Such a fantastic brush that I had the opportunity to be given as a present! I am very happy with it, so it will, naturally, get my recommendation! Just a shame it was, like all Essence/Catrice LEs, only available for a very short time. I wish it was still available...

Catrice Shine Bomb Lipstick [060 - Blooming Coral] Review

One nice lipstick is the second of the reviews today! This is the Catrice Shine Bomb Lipstick, in the shade 060/Blooming Coral!

Catrice always have a line of hydrating, super soft and quite shiny lipsticks. Before, they were called ‘Power Plumping’, their successor seems to be the Shine Bomb line. Different kind of packaging but very, very similar when applied. Now, I do own a bunch of Power Plumping lipsticks, some that I bought myself, some that I got in Advent calendars; I have mixed feelings about them because they tend to be poorly pigmented and I like very intense lippies. So, why then, did I buy this one, that seems to continue that poorly pigmented yet super comfortable streak? Well, I was just extremely curious... there were a few subtler colours that interested me. I thought they’d be good for a nude sort of look. But the one that was on sale 50% at the time I bought it is this one – a (seemingly) bright coral colour! I do love me some coral, and it’s nice to have such flowery bright colours for spring and summer. Seriously, at the price I got it, it was a steal! Even if it doesn’t end up being particularly good, like the older Power Plumping ones. Plus, I got the huge powder brush as a gift because this was the second of two Catrice products I needed to buy in order to get the brush! Win-win! However, I’m hoping Catrice have improved the formula (and the pigmentation). Now, let’s see how good this new-generation comfortable lipstick is!

Packaging: pretty much the same kind of case most Catrice lipsticks come in nowadays, but this one is purple/black, with a very nice gradient going from purple to black. This helps you know exactly which lipstick you are choosing, without opening it. I really like this newer design, it’s very modern and elegant! I love how it’s technically octagonal, but has so soft edges, it really helps it look distinct from other lipsticks! The giant embossed Catrice logo adds to this very modern vibe. There is a sticker on the bottom that isn’t a perfect match for the colour of the lipstick, but it’s really close. The cap closes very tightly but is easy to open.

Now, inside you’ll find the bullet, and oh my is this bullet gorgeous! Catrice always manage to make beautiful bullets, but this one is truly a work of art! It’s embossed with various details; there’s a Catrice logo, surrounded by little 3D hexagons connected into a mesh. And it looks like the tip is melting over them! Stunning! Makes you feel bad to actually use it... but that’s the beauty of photography, it’s a lasting memory of that beautiful design, even after it’s used up. The bullet is angled so that it applies pigment precisely and evenly. Stunning design... I’m left speechless.

Ingredients: hyaluronic acid, vitamin E for nourishment. No parabens. Also, jam-packed with various waxes and oils and ascorbyl palmitate (form of vitamin C). The scent is honestly really good! It smells juicy and fruity, almost like peach! Or like peach ice tea... both things I adore. It's also very aromatic and kinda floral. I really like it! The expiration date is a whopping 36 months after opening... you've got more than enough time to use it up!

Colour: Catrice call it coral, but to me this is a bit more peachy than coral. Ehh, I guess it is like a coral pink/Congo pink. In any case, it’s a vivid, yet still gentle pink that has a lot of orange tones in it. The pink tones soften the harshness that orange tones can have, which makes this colour look soft and gentle, even though it is pretty intense! It is a lovely colour for pale skin, but it would look good on many other skintones as well. It definitely looks brighter on my pale skin, though!

This coral colour is further complemented by the extremely fine mostly orange shimmer; this shimmer enhances this lipstick in every way! It makes it look more supple, it looks more elegant, and it balances out the pink/orange tones incredibly well! The result is a stunning gentle coral colour that is amazing for most occasions, be it formal or everyday!

This lipstick applies (seemingly) evenly, and the shape of the bullet makes it very easy to define the cupid’s bow and the edges of the lips. It glides smoothly across the lips without tugging or pulling at them.

Pigmentation isn’t that bad... but it is definitely less pigmented than many other lipsticks, especially matte ones. With one layer I get a lovely, lived-in sort of look that looks quite soft and nice. Two to three layers is what I need to reach maximum pigmentation. It’s super buildable; it doesn’t look cakey or too thick even with 3 layers! With 3 layers it is actually very nicely pigmented, but it still looks lived-in and soft. It’s good when you want to have subtle makeup looks. It seems to be evenly distributed across the lips, but this colour is quite a gentle one, so it’s not very visible if it isn’t.

Mmm, this formula is so very soft! It’s greasy, but it feels more creamy than greasy. It’s definitely not the lightest formula around, but it definitely feels hydrating and nourishing. However, I can feel the tiny shimmer; it’s just the tiniest bit scratchy, but that doesn’t detract too much from the overall gorgeously soft and creamy feeling. It does become more waxy than creamy with time, but it still feels luxuriously hydrating nevertheless. And this formula doesn’t pill up near the inner portion of the lips like many creamy lipsticks have been known to do!

The texture is satin, but almost pearly as it’s got a lot of very fine shimmer. It looks plump and juicy! And indeed, it makes my lips look plumper and more supple! And it doesn’t emphasise the fine lines of the lips, but still make sure to exfoliate your lips as it has some problems with dry parts.

Being so creamy, it’s no wonder that this lipstick is very comfortable to wear, especially in the first hour, while it’s still very creamy and like a luxe lip balm. After it changes into a slightly drier formula, it is slightly less comfortable than before, but that’s still miles better than many matte lipsticks. It doesn’t become too waxy, which is what’s important. I hate when I get that waxy residue on the centre of my bottom lip, it’s so annoying! But this lipstick doesn’t have that due to how creamy it is! Although, it is a bit annoying how it emphasises drier parts, but it’s not a big deal honestly. However, being so creamy, it doesn’t dry out my lips one bit! Instead, they still feel pretty nourished after a day of wearing it.

Longevity is... well, not good. Even aside from how well it tolerates eating/drinking, it’s not very good longevity, I’m afraid. It starts to fade an hour or two in, but at least it’s uniform. There didn’t seem to be any feathering that I could see, but it was already pretty faded so it was a bit difficult to see if there was any feathering. It all depends on how much you are having to eat or drink, since it doesn’t tolerate food at all. But that’s normal for such creamy lipsticks.

Another thing typical of creamy, satin lipsticks is that they’re super easy to remove! This lipstick only needs one swipe with micellar water and it’s gone! And no stains!

In conclusion, well, this lipstick is growing on me... and quickly! At first, I felt like it was meh, but the more I am wearing it, the more I am growing to love it. I love so much about it! The formula is sooo luxe and creamy, and wears incredibly (it still feels very comfortable even 4 hours later)! It doesn’t exaggerate the fine lines in my lips, even though it has shimmer. It’s also very hydrating and nourishing as my lips feel great after a day of wearing it, not at all dried out or flaky! And it makes my lips look plumper and healthier and so juicy! And that’s all without menthol! I also love how the colour looks intense and vibrant yet gentle and soft at the same time, it’s actually very, very pretty! It looks great on pale skin, too! But not everything is this great, sadly. It has its fair share of issues, mostly coming from how creamy it is. See, it doesn’t last very long, fading after only a couple of hours. And it hates food and water, fading almost completely after any even slightly greasy meal. So you will need to reapply it often during the day. Also, the shimmer is palpable; it’s just ever so slightly scratchy. And yeah, the durability issue is the biggest problem, one that overshadows how good the colour is or how it plumps up my lips. Most creamy lipsticks suffer from similar problems, but it’s still worth mentioning them. That doesn’t mean I don’t like this lipstick – I have grown to really like it despite its flaws! And I love how great it is for the spring season, it’s truly a blooming coral! I will recommend it, although it seems like it’s been discontinued :( . Well, I’ll cherish the one I have!

Catrice Magic Repair Nail Oil Review

One nail oil coming right up! Specifically, the Catrice Magic Repair Nail Oil!

I used to be a nail oil non-believer. I used to think I didn’t need a nail oil to keep my nails healthy, but, as it turns out – I really do! I finally found a nail oil that was good enough for my nails and cuticles... and then Essence decided to discontinue it! Sad face. Now what?? Well, time to go find a suitable replacement, I guess... so I bought a few different nail oils, hoping that at least one of them would be as good as the old one. This Catrice nail oil looked interesting, I’ll admit, mostly because of the duo purple/orange colour that doesn’t mix. It’s vibrant and colourful and with a name such as ‘Magic Repair’, it has to be at least somewhat good, right? Well, this is my last chance to try it out as Catrice is discontinuing it and replacing it with a different nail oil. The fact that it’s 50% off now is great... but if it ends up being actually great, I won’t be able to buy it again. Let’s see how good it really is!

Packaging: a small, lightweight glass bottle. It’s clear so that you can see the bi-phase formula clearly. There’s not much else to add besides mentioning the big “magic repair” title. The triangle is truly ~magical~ ! The dropper is white, to match the text, and closes very tightly.

Ingredients: almond (Prunus amygdalus dulcis) oil, glycerine, macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia) seed oil, jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) seed oil, vitamin E, argan (Argania spinosa) kernel oil, avocado (Persea gratissima) oil, vitamin C for nourishment. 3-free (DBP, formaldehyde, toluene) and no parabens. Wow, the very first ingredient is almond oil; supposedly, its composition is 77% almond oil, and I would believe it given this list! And a ton of other oils, too! Surely, with such an ingredients list, it has to be nourishing, no? The scent is intense, but very pleasant. It’s aromatic and very floral, somewhat salty and with a hint of alcohol. I like this scent! The expiration date is 18 months after opening.

The dropper is very good. It picks up a good amount of oil, enough for one whole hand. This makes it easy to apply the oil quickly before bed. But I really prefer to have brushes instead of droppers for nail oils, droppers usually become very messy very fast. This one is no exception. It’s hard to judge where your nails are exactly in the pitch dark of the night so I often end up dripping nail oil on my blankets. You can control how much oil you want to dispense from the dropper with how hard you squeeze the rubber nib (it’s soft and flexible enough to be this precise). Even a light squeeze gives you a good-sized droplet. But still, it is relatively messy and everything becomes greasy and oily in no time.

The oil is bi-phase, consisting of a purple phase and a red phase. These mix uniformly inside the dropper, do what you actually get is a mostly colourless oil.

Well, it is a nail oil so – it is oily! The formula is thick and oily, really rich for a nail oil! It’s not really runny thanks to this thickness that it has. This helps it stay on the nails and cuticles instead of simply dripping off them. It’s a weird formula, much thicker than the nails oils I used before; I don’t mind it too much. But it does feel nourishing! It doesn’t really absorb, or, if it does, it takes a ridiculously long time; I apply it before going to bed and my nails are still oily/slimy even an hour later, unless I manage to wipe it off on the pillowcase. This is more than enough time for both the nail and the cuticles to draw all the hydration they can from this oil, the excess then stays on the surface. I don’t mind this all that much because most nail oils are like this.

You can definitely feel this oil on your nails! Its thick formula feels goopy and slimy on nails, but not very heavy, actually. I’m surprised by how lightweight it actually is! I don’t really feel much else, honestly, but I do want to believe it heals my nails.

And heal it does! At least, that’s what it looks like after 2 weeks of everyday use. My nails seem to be healthier, slightly whiter and a tad stronger. They also almost never chip or split. The longitudinal ringing is still present, but everything else seems to be in much better shape! My cuticles seem to be more nourished and in better health, too! That’s huge, because my cuticles are usually in bad shape no matter what I do!

All in all, this nail oil might not be the most perfect one ever, but it definitely performs some sort of magic to repair my nails like this! I love the visual of there being two separate phases, one purple and one red, that is is really visually striking even if it isn’t really coloured on the nails. It really looks like some magical concoction! The dropper is precise and easy to use, even if it does usually make a mess when I use it in the dark before bed. This is why I prefer brushes in nail oils! The formula is interestingly thick and almost slimy; it definitely feels like a rich formula that will nourish the nails and help them regenerate. And it does keep my nails and cuticles in good shape! The nails don’t split anymore and my cuticles aren’t hard and cracked anymore. The results are truly great! I honestly did not expect it to be this good at healing my nails and keeping them in good shape! But it really is magical! So... it has happened again. Something great that is in the process of being discontinued and replaced by (probably) a worse product. Sigh. Well, at least I managed to buy a second bottle while they still had them! Now I will have it for quite some time, and I am sure my nails will appreciate this! I will recommend it, if you manage to find it!

Hello!

I'm feeling excited today... I finally get to show you a few Catrice products that are quite interesting!

So, I always check out Catrice's display in stores, even if I've already seen it dozens of times recently. This time, I was at BIPA, and, although they don't get new LEs or put stuff on a 50% off discount as soon as Müller, I still happened to catch the sale before it was over! Look at that glorious yellow sticker! A bunch of stuff was put on sale to make room for the (then) new Fall/Winter 2023 collection; there were powders, eyeshadows, eyeliners and all sorts of nail and lip products marked 50% off.

But what's interesting to us, at the moment, is that the entire Shine Bomb range was being discontinued. Yup - the entire range! Tbh, I'm not too sure what replaced it, exactly... hmm. It first started out with only shade 060 being 50% off, but the rest would follow soon thereafter. Now, this isn't my top favourite kind of colour, but there was one other reason why I needed to buy it: BIPA had a promo where, if you bought any 2 Catrice products, you'd get a free Catrice brush! I am a brush fiend so, naturally, I had to get it... my, what great timing, then, to have a bunch of stuff 50% off! I picked two products that looked interesting enough and got to choose a brush as a present, yay! I felt so happy :)

Lip Liner

Relove by Revolution Super Fill Lipliner [Sweet] Review

An affordable lip liner – this is the Relove by Revolution Super Fill Lipliner, in the shade Sweet!

This was another Relove product that I was absolutely itching to try! Relove is known for being the most affordable of the Revolution family, but that doesn’t mean it’s the worst in quality, because it manages to fight this prejudice by being fantastic with a budget price! Lip liners are a must for me, so when I saw that Relove launched one I just had to get one! But which shade? Dream, Glam and Cream all looked nice, but they all seemed like they’re either too orange or too brown, which is a very common issue for me. Lots of ‘nude’ shades look orange on me. I needed a nude shade that would match my lips... Sweet looks like it’s the closest to this, it looks like a very ‘sweet’ rose shade, indeed! Hmm, could this be the one?? I sure hope so... but even if it’s not, I’m sure it will be a fantastic addition to my lip pencil collection! Now, let’s see how good it truly is!

Packaging: a simple design, but it doesn’t have to overly extravagant. The pencil is white with a coloured section on one end. The cap and some of the text matches this colour, and the colour itself is a very close match for the pencil. The cap closes very tightly. The text on the pencil is very bold and modern-looking, I love it! The pencil itself is your regular old wooden pencil.

Ingredients: only vitamin E for nourishment. No parabens. The scent is subtle, it smells waxy and like wooden pencils... because this is a wooden pencil, after all! The expiration date is quite short, only 6 months, but it stays good for much, much longer than that! So I wouldn’t worry too much about the PAO.

The colour is officially described as being a “dusky pink”; I would agree! It’s a muted, soft rose that does look quite dusky. It’s medium dark, which should make it appropriate for many skintones. It’s similar to 'puce' and 'Turkish rose', but it’s less vibrant than either. It’s a bit mauvey, which makes it so natural; indeed, it is just a tad darker than my lips, showing just how natural it truly is! It makes it possible to overline the lips but still have them look completely natural, like they’re naturally pouty!

Gorgeous colour, truly, and one I have been searching for for so long! It was so hard to find a colour that almost matches my lips, so when I managed to find such a lip pencil, it became precious to me!

This lip pencil may be close to the colour of my lips, but it’s actually extremely pigmented! One layer is enough to get a rich, even layer of colour but it can absolutely be built up if you want it to be thicker. I love how it’s so richly pigmented, it’s so easy to line and fill the lips because of that! It looks gorgeously rich when I fill in my entire lips with it, wooow!

This is super easy to apply! Like, even if it is blunt, it still deposits pigment evenly and richly across the lips! And it’s very precise when it’s both blunt and sharp, which makes lining the lips – or overlining them – a breeze! The cupid's bow only takes a few seconds to line properly and everything else goes smoothly as the lip pencil doesn’t tug or pull at the lips.

Worn with the Clueless x Makeup Revolution Lip Gloss [Cher]

The formula is quite waxy and a bit tacky but here I don’t mind it that much. I don’t usually like overly waxy formulas but this one feels comfortable for whatever reason. Maybe because it’s actually incredibly lightweight, as it feels featherlight despite that waxiness. The formula applies perfectly evenly with just one layer and it doesn’t look cheap at any point. It becomes a bit powdery after a while, but it doesn’t really change much during the day. Plus, it doesn’t transfer at all!

Worn with the Clueless x Makeup Revolution Lip Gloss [Cher]

The texture of this lip pencil is ultra matte. Now, this can easily veer into cakey and dry territory, but this pencil manages to avoid that. It looks velvety soft and there’s no shine at all! But even though there’s no shine, it doesn’t usually look dry. It does, however, emphasise the fine lines of the lips, particularly if lips haven’t been exfoliated properly. It doesn’t emphasise them that much, though, so I don’t mind it too much. It is worth mentioning, though. But overall, I love how it makes my lips look so soft and matte, and it’s not even that noticeable that I’m wearing a lip liner because it’s pretty close to the colour of my lips! Yes, this is exactly what I have been searching for! It’s perfect!

I have a few complaints about the comfort of this pencil. It’s the tackiness and how it’s a bit too waxy. It feels a bit tacky the whole time you are wearing it, which isn’t the most pleasant thing, but at least it’s a dry type of tackiness. It also feels a bit too waxy and dry at the same time, again, this isn’t too comfortable. But it’s still pretty comfortable all things considered! The waxiness and light tackiness is easy to get used to, and, since the formula doesn’t really change over time, it stays this comfortable until you remove it! All that said, it does dry out my lips a little bit.

Longevity is pretty good! I think the waxy formula is to thank for this good longevity! It doesn’t feather, smudge or fade throughout the day; 8 hours later it still looks almost the same as when I first applied it – provided I don’t drink or eat too much. See, greasy food tends to make it fade from the centre. It handles drier food and drinks relatively well, and doesn’t fade very much, but I would still recommend reapplying it after a meal. However, since it’s so close to the colour of my lips, I can barely see that it has faded, so I usually don’t even reapply it since it’s not very visible that it changed after a meal! See how useful it is to have a pencil that matches your lips?? It’s wonderful! Honestly, I never thought it would stay almost unchanged for hours upon hours, this is incredible!

This lip pencil is extremely easy to remove! Only one swipe with micellar water and it’s gone, that’s all it requires!

It’s also extremely easy to sharpen! It very, very rarely breaks and it only takes a few turns in the sharpener to get it to be very sharp. Fantastic!

All in all, this has quickly become one of my favourite neutral lip liners! It is beyond fantastic! The pencil is precise even if it’s blunt, and doesn’t ever look smudgy or messy! It’s super easy to apply and usually doesn’t tug at my lips. The formula is incredibly easy to use and applies evenly, and it looks so velvety smooth and wonderful! It can look a bit dry if your lips aren’t exfoliated properly, but it’s mostly good. The lip liner lasts for an incredibly long time; it doesn’t smudge or fade over time although food does damage it to varying degrees depending on how greasy it is. I highly recommend reapplying it after eating as it will be damaged to some degree. It feels a bit dry on lips, but it doesn’t dry out my lips too much, maybe just a tiny bit. But the colour! Oh my god, this is legit the best subtle rosy lip pencil I have ever used! It’s such a subtle colour on my lips, like my lips but better! This allows me to overline my lips and still have them look naturally luscious and plump – they look especially plump with this lip liner and a clear lip gloss, that’s such a magnificent combination! But even if you are wearing it by itself, it looks incredible when you fill in your lips with it! I love this lip liner sooo much, and it doesn’t cost a lot at all! Super affordable and super good! I will recommend it highly, it is exceptionally good! It’s been a long time coming... but now I finally have a proper rosey nude lip liner that matches my lips... feels good!

New Stuff - Part 37

Hello!

Not a lot of new this week, but this pencil is something I've been wanting to show you all for so long!

The creams are my favourites; I keep buying them again as soon as the previous tube is partially empty.

The Eucerin is my daily moisturiser that is absolutely fantastic, you can read my full review that I'll link below! It might be a bit expensive, but it's so worth it!

The Ziaja Med night cream is another fantastic cream that I refuse to stop using, you'll see why in the review that I already posted before, but I'll still link it below!

Now, the only new product for this week: this lovely little lip pencil! I love Relove, the brand is affordable but the quality is usually astonishingly good considering the price! I wanted to buy their lip liner, I just couldn't pick one shade! It is called 'Super Fill', I wonder how super it will be!

Trend it Up Easy & Speedy Nail Polish [190] Review

And now the last nail polish of the three! This is the Trend it Up Easy & Speedy Nail Polish, in the shade 190!

This is the least likely of the three nail polished that my mum gave me that I’d buy on my own. I’m not one to wear vibrant blue nail polishes usually, but I do understand that sometimes you need a vibrant dark blue! Trend it Up nail polishes vary in quality, but the Easy & Speedy polishes were very good previously. This is definitely a beautiful colour, I hope it will be good like the other Easy & Speedy polishes! Well, let’s see how good it is!

Packaging: a small square glass bottle. It’s cute! The cap is much taller than the bottle; the cap is black and closes very tightly. The text is white, such a fantastic colour choice with the vibrant blue of the polish! It’s a simple design, but I love the shape of the bottle, it’s pretty cute!

Ingredients: vitamin E for nourishment. 3-free (DBP, formaldehyde, toluene). It, interestingly, has diatomaceous earth and Lithothamnion calcareum extract. Also, zinc sulfate to help strengthen your nails. The scent is similar to most other nail polishes, but it is more acrid and sharp. The expiration date is 24 months after opening.

Brush: small rounded brush that is decent. It picks up a ton of polish but it doesn’t apply it too evenly, although that is also due to the formula being very difficult to apply evenly. It is not too precise, but I managed to paint my nails without making a terribly huge mess on the skin around the nails. The brush is not frayed but it could definitely be better.

Colour: oooh, this is a beautiful shade of blue! It’s a rich, vibrant darker blue, very much like dark sapphire blue; it’s also like something in between USAF blue and Boeing blue. A very intense colour that is immediately noticeable from afar! It looks stunning on pale skin, does it not? I’m not usually one for blue, especially darker, navy-type blue, nail polishes but this one is really stunning! It creates such an intense contrast between my pale skin and it. Wow! Sapphires on my nails, truly!

The formula is quite pleasant to use, although it is a bit runny. And it does apply horribly unevenly with one coat, which is a serious problem. But it feels silky and smooth, and it doesn’t usually make a huge mess unless you aren’t being careful. I was kind of rushing through the application process, which lead to a lot of polish on the skin surrounding the nails... it’s entirely my fault. However, even though it feels runny, it also feels very nice in terms of thickness; like, it’s not too thick or too thin. So, it’s not all bad!

Oooh boy... this is horribly uneven with one coat. It’s blotchy and uneven and partially sheer. It just looks hideous with one coat... no sugarcoating this. Alright, two coats improves how it looks massively! It’s opaque now and it’s mostly even, only being slightly uneven in a few places, but it’s not very noticeable at all. The texture is very glossy.

Scratches aside, this nail polish actually has great longevity! It’s such a shame it gets scratched up so much because it doesn’t chip easily. The scratches make it less glossy, it becomes more of a muted shine instead. The nail polish stayed in remarkably good condition during the 4 days I was wearing it; it developed some very minor tip wear between days 2 and 3, but it was barely visible. It did chip on day 3, but it wasn’t significantly chipped. It continued to be in great shape the next day, even though a hair wash did damage it slightly. But it’s really not nearly as bad as it can be after a hair wash! Excellent! Now, if only it was scratch resistant...

Oh wow, this nail polish is actually super easy to remove! That’s... a huge surprise! I thought I would have to rub for ages just to break through it, but I only need a couple of swipes and it’s already pretty much gone! I do need to rub a bit more to remove the last remaining bits of it, but it’s so much easier than I thought! And it doesn’t leave my nails stained yellow; they do seem to be very slightly bluish but that could be me just seeing things. They might not even be discoloured. Wow... I thought for sure it would discolour my nails...

All in all, another good little nail polish from Trend it Up! It seems the Easy & Speedy range is one of the promising ones as this isn’t the first Easy & Speedy to be this good! There’s much to love here: the brush is pretty good, the longevity is excellent (for the most part), and oh my... the colour! It’s stunning! So rich, so vibrant! A darker blue that looks gorgeous on pale skin, it is visible from miles away! I love it – and I don’t typically wear blue nail polishes, so this is high praise, coming from me! But not all is great... the formula is finicky, to put it lightly. It’s not the easiest formula to use, and it applies so goddamn unevenly with one coat... thankfully, applying a second coat fixes it, but, by god, is it uneven and ugly with one coat. And it’s prone to being scratched up, which isn’t good as it makes it less glossy. But combined with its small price, it’s great! These vibrant nail polishes can be spotty and difficult to work with, but this little polish is a real gem – sapphire, even! I will recommend it, I do love it!
