Nivea Rice Scrub [Purify] Review

The only new review for today! This is the Nivea Rice Scrub, variant Purify!

This product seemed interesting to me because I like to exfoliate my face once a week, in order to try to reduce the amount of sebum, and this scrub has crushed rice as the exfoliating agent, instead of sugar. I decided to get the strongest intensity scrub, thinking that it would be appropriate for my oily, problematic skin. So, what’s this interesting product like? Let’s see!

Packaging: soft plastic tube. The cap is white and closes tightly, even though it might not seem like it does. This variant has a soft, pistachio green coloured tube that is very relaxing. It’s a very soothing colour! I love that the text isn’t black but dark blue instead, it’s a much better colour for the soft green of the tube. I also love the little rice print, it’s pretty cute! It’s a very elegant packaging, all in all.

Ingredients: glycerine, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder, panthenol/provitamin B5 for nourishment. No parabens. The aloe is bio certified, so that it is as natural as possible. The exfoliating agent is rice (Oryza sativa) powder. It’s quite interesting that it’s rice and not sugar or dead sea salt or microcrystalline cellulose. The rice is sourced from organic agriculture. The scent is very soothing and relaxing, and it isn’t too intense. It smells slightly perfumey, and it is creamy and really nice. It also smells a bit like aloe. The expiration date is 12 months after opening.

This scrub has a very faint minty colour to match the soft green of the packaging. It’s a very soothing colour, and it stays light green on skin, while you are applying it to your face. The formula is quite thick and gelly, but it is also quite creamy. It is surprisingly light on skin! The crushed rice feels only a bit coarse, which makes the exfoliation very gentle. I like this formula as it feels like it actually cleans the skin and exfoliates it gently. And I love how gentle the rice is, it is just coarse enough to exfoliate the skin gently without damaging it.

The creamy formula makes the scrub easy to spread across the face, and it doesn’t dry up or become goopy, it just stays smooth and creamy. Just make sure your face is moist or wet before applying the scrub! This scrub feels a bit cooling and refreshing while it’s on the skin, and it’s also a bit greasy and thick, but still quite lightweight! It’s a very comfortable formula that feels so refreshing and doesn’t feel uncomfortable on my oily skin. The rice is just coarse enough to give you a slight scratchy feeling that is really so nice! Brilliant formula!

Despite having intensity level 3, which is the max level of these rice scrubs, it is not at all rough on the skin. It’s really gentle yet so effective, as my skin feels so much more clean and soothed after washing off the scrub. It is very easy to wash off, though it can take some time to remove the rice completely. I remove it using face cloths, that way I can get rid of all the rice, and gently remove the scrub. The condition of my skin after using this scrub is very good! It feels relaxed, calmer, and just so balanced! And it looks relaxed, completely clean and matte, and not one bit dry. Indeed, it is very soft to touch, which means that it’s not at all dried out. This scrub manages to reduce the appearance of blackheads on my nostrils, which is a real success, as they are difficult to remove otherwise! As my skin feels so calm and relaxed, it is obvious that this scrub doesn’t cause any irritations, despite being, supposedly, the strongest of the 3 scrubs. The results are more prominent in the way my skin feels rather than in the way it looks, which is still very good with how problematic my skin is!

In conclusion, this is a fantastic face scrub for oily, problematic skin! Everything about it is designed to be relaxing, soothing: from the pastel green tube, to the minty colour of the scrub, to the relaxing, aloe-like scent, and finally to the soft, creamy formula. The formula is incredibly easy to spread across the face, as long as it is moist/wet, and it gently exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells. It’s such a gentle exfoliation that is more effective than you’d think! After washing off the scrub my skin looks and feels soothed, relaxed, and purified from deep within. My skin is totally matte, but doesn’t look tight and dry, it’s just a healthy matte look! It even managed to reduce the amount and appearance of the blackheads on my nostrils! And blackheads on nostrils often become large and very dark so the fact that it can reduce them is a huge success! Since my skin is just so purified, cleaned, refreshed and soothed, it’s the perfect base for toners and face masks. Which is exactly why this is step 1 in my Sunday night skincare routine, to ensure that face masks absorb properly. I just love this scrub, but it’s becoming harder to find; I hope that Nivea isn’t discontinuing it, as it’s such a good product! I will definitely recommend it!

New Stuff - Part 33

Hello hello!

A quite festive couple of things today! But don't worry, the Nivea products should be still available to purchase at the time of this writing (04/2024).

As you can see, I was feeling the holiday spirit when I bought these things! DM has all sorts of things every Christmas season - but some things come back!

Some things, like this speculaas cream spread. I bought it this Christmas but I wasn't able to finish it, sadly. It's delicious - and therein lies the issue! It's easy to eat way too much and, since it's got a lot of sugar, feel sick afterwards. But ngl, it does taste exactly like speculaas biscuits... it's sooo delicious! But I've moved on from eating any kind of Nutella-like spreads, for my own wellbeing... ah, who am I kidding? I'm going to buy it again come Christmas 2024 haha!

The napkins? Well, I thought they were adorable, even if I don't really use napkins. Also, I love birds and this napkin set has tiny winter birdies on it... hey, it cannot go bad so I just keep it as a decoration :) .

Instead of repeating myself for the deodorant, I'll just link this short review of it that I wrote previously because this is one deodorant that I just keep coming back to!

Sinsay Nourishing Face Mask [Choco Cream] Review

One more face mask for today! This time, a real treat for all the chocoholics out there – this is the Sinsay Nourishing Face Mask, variant Choco Cream!

There was literally a 0% chance that I wouldn’t buy this mask! It’s made for me: chocolate cream??? Sign me up, like, right now! The more chocolate the better, is my motto! And it’s super affordable, so why not buy it? I must say that I am very excited to try it out! The previous sheet masks from Sinsay have been a mix of good and average, but honestly, I don’t care with this mask – I just want it to smell like melted chocolate so that I can have like 15 minutes of pure bliss! Now, let’s see if it lives up to this expectation!

Packaging: aww, what a tiny sachet! It’s so cute! Look – it looks like a tiny jar full of chocolate! Oh would I love to have that! Not Nutella, but literal melted chocolate! Yum! I love the light blue colour, it’s great colour to contrast with the dark chocolate brown! And it’s a cute colour anyways, such a sweet baby blue! All the information is in the back.

Ingredients: glycerine, cocoa (Theobroma cacao) seed butter/extract, almond (Prunus amygdalus dulcis) oil, witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) leaf water, coconut (Cocos nucifera) water, common walnut (Juglans regia) leaf extract, panthenol/provitamin B5, vitamin E, Leuconostoc/radish root ferment filtrate, barley (Hordeum vulgare) powder for nourishment. No parabens. Okay, wow, this looks very promising! Tons of nourishing and calming ingredients! We’ll see how good it is actually for my skin, though. Omg this scent! It’s sooo delicious! It’s relatively intense, but I honestly actually like that it is intense! You know why? Because it smells exactly like chocolate! It’s either like hot chocolate or like nougat chocolate, because it’s sweet but still smells like chocolate. This may be too yummy for before bed haha! But it doesn’t really smell synthetic at all, it’s like I’ve literally got chocolate on my face! Yum! The expiration date is listed as a real date on the sachet. This mask should be left on for 15 minutes and then rinsed off with lukewarm water.

This mask is very light brown in colour, almost kinda like chocolate milk! This matches the scent very well! But it’s quite similar to my skintone so it’s not very visible on me, sadly.

Alright, this is a very greasy formula. It feels greasy and slick and kinda heavy, but not nearly as much as it could be. It’s actually fairly lightweight given how greasy it is. But it’s still too greasy for my already oily skin.

Hmm, well, it certainly feels nourishing. But that’s mostly it? It doesn’t really feel too hydrating or anything else. It doesn’t feel like it’s suffocating my skin; it’s actually pretty comfortable. I mean, this is a nourishing face mask, so I guess I shouldn’t feel disappointed that this is it? Although, I did expect it to at least feel hydrating and a bit calming as well...

After 15 minutes and a rinse, my face looks... well, good? It does look nourished, and a tiny bit plumper, but it’s not a huge difference. It, of course, does nothing to soothe acne. But at least it doesn’t seem to cause any irritations. My skin feels okay, but, again, it’s nothing too special.

The morning after, my skin still feels okay. It doesn’t look dried out and no new acne appeared overnight. So it seems like my skin tolerated the face mask rather well. But there aren’t many improvements to its condition, honestly. Oh well, at least it didn’t get worse, right?

All in all, well... it’s alright. Not good, not bad, just alright. The mask is greasy, like, real greasy, but it feels lightweight, which is good for my already oily skin. It doesn’t really feel like much while it is drying, just a bit greasy, but it’s otherwise very comfortable on the skin. The results are meh. There’s really no other word to describe it, it doesn’t really do much to my skin. It does seem to nourish it a little bit, but that’s all. My skin doesn’t look or feel more hydrated or soothed or anything else really. It’s not dried out, though, which is good. While this is all kinda disappointing, one thing is definitely not: the scent! Oh my god! This is majestic – it smells like hot chocolate or nougat chocolate! And it doesn’t smell synthetic, it’s a true chocolate scent that is just sooo yummy! This pleases my chocoholic heart! If only the rest matched how good the scent is... it’s sad that it doesn’t. Oh well. At least it was 15 minutes of delicious chocolate smell filling the air all around me. But since it’s so mediocre I won’t be giving it a recommendation, the scent is just not enough, sadly.

Would buy again? Maybe YES (only because it smells so much like chocolate)

Sinsay Moisturizing Face Mask [Coconut] Review

Another face mask! This time it’s the Sinsay Moisturizing Face Mask, variant Coconut!

Listen, it was on sale and it’s mega cute so why not buy it? I love these ultra cute designs on face masks, like this happy little coconut, aww! But I also did honestly think it might end up being a good mask; it’s got coconut, which is a very strong nourishing ingredient, so it should be at least relatively good, no? Well, let’s see!

Packaging: such an adorable little sachet! Omg! I love the pale pink colour and how they combined it with white, to make a combination that is super cute but also soothing. Text is white and (slightly) darker pink, which is such a cute choice. Information about the mask is in the back. The front is adorned with the cutest illustration of lil’ coconut pals – they’re best buddies, it’s obvious! So kawaii! I love it so much! This was, after all, the primary reason why I bought this mask in the first place.

Ingredients: glycerine, avocado (Persea gratissima) oil, coconut (Cocos nucifera) oil, betaine, ginger (Zingiber officinale) root extract, allantoin, hyaluronic acid, panthenol/provitamin B5, vitamin E for nourishment. No parabens. Hmm, well, this sounds promising! Although, it sounds more nourishing than hydrating, no? Oh this smell is so amazing! It’s a gentle scent, but it is extremely coconut-y, like, it smells like actual coconut water! So yummy! I’ve always loved coconuts, so this smell is perfect for me! The expiration date is listed as a real date in the back of the sachet. This mask should be left on for 15 minutes and then rinsed off.

This face mask is white; white as the flesh inside a ripe coconut!

Oh god, this is greasy with a capital G. Like, it’s way too greasy for my skin... I just hope it doesn’t cause any breakouts. It’s also pretty heavy and thick. I mean, I get that this is a moisturizing mask, but it feels much more like a specifically nourishing one. I just think my skin is the wrong type for this kind of formula, sadly.

What do I feel while it is absorbing? Well, not much exactly, besides the greasiness. It does feel nourishing, I’ll admit, and there is a pleasantly subtle cooling sensation. But it doesn’t really feel hydrating at all. It mostly just feels heavy on my face.

Washing off this mask wasn’t a particularly difficult task, even though it seemed like it would be hard to remove at the start. I needed two cotton pads and some water to remove it completely, which isn’t too bad. However, the mask did leave a very greasy film on my skin, which I really don’t like. I don’t need anything that can clog my pores...

The results aren’t spectacular, but there are some positive changes. Namely, my face looks more nourished, like it’s slightly plumper. It also looks slightly more hydrated, but less so compared to the nourishing effect. Pores look the same, pimples are just as inflamed... but overall, my face looks slightly plumper and happier! It feels pretty much the same as before I applied the mask, though.

The next morning my face looks pretty good, actually. Not a whole lot better than usual, but it still looks like it’s nourished and slightly plumper. But it doesn’t really look hydrated. And there are no breakouts. I like how it looks; it seems my skin liked this mask in the end!

All in all, an okay face mask for oily skin; I do think it’s much better suited for dry skin, though. Why do I think that? Because the formula of the mask is just sooo greasy and heavy. It felt occlusive on my oily skin, like it was blocking all my pores. This is not something my skin enjoys, as I’m already in a constant struggle with acne; I don’t need face masks additionally blocking pores. Still, it doesn’t look like it’s caused any breakouts, so it seems like my skin didn’t mind it all that much. And what I like the most is the scent! It smells like fresh coconut water... ahh, so summery! But, since it didn’t have ant particularly great results, and since it is far too greasy for my skin, I won’t be recommending it.

Sinsay Sheet Mask Fox [Anti-Aging] Review

Now, a kawaii fox sheet mask! This is the Sinsay Sheet Mask Fox [Anti-Aging]! Note that it doesn’t actually have an “official” name, so this is what I am going to call it for clarity.

Well, the main reason why I bought this sheet mask is because it was just too adorable! I couldn’t pass up the lil foxy! I had used a few Sinsay sheet masks before and they turned out to be surprisingly good so I felt, why not, and added it to my cart. It’s cheap enough anyways. Of course, Sinsay's website doesn’t list the ingredients so I was left guessing what they meant by anti-aging. Maybe some peptides, or shea or cocoa or Q10... definitely hyaluronic acid. Meh, whatever there is inside, it will surely be good, right? Well, let’s see!

Owo! What an adorable sachet! Aww, look at that kawaii lil fox! It’s so happy! I love the bold text, and it’s especially nice that it isn’t black! It’s like a dark magenta colour that is the perfect contrast to the soft pink of the background. All the information is in the back, as usual.

Ingredients: glycerine, cocoa (Theobroma cacao) extract, cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) fruit extract, allantoin, hyaluronic acid for nourishment. No parabens. The scent is peculiar but not bad, per se. It’s extremely intense and so sweet that it becomes bitter. It’s kinda like maybe marshmallow I want to say. But it is definitely sickeningly sweet, which makes it smell synthetic. I don’t really like it, but that’s just my preference. The expiration date is listed along the bottom of the sachet in the back. This mask should be left on for a mere 10 minutes! That seems a bit short, no? But it’s great when you don’t have a lot of time for sheet masks but still want extra TLC for your skin.

The sheet is actually pretty good, if somewhat too loose and stretchy. It is super soft, but that actually makes it a bit difficult to stretch out properly; I had to fiddle around for quite some time to finally get it to be stretched out so that I can fit it on my face. Speaking of, it is not at all too large, so it doesn’t crease a lot on my small face. This is great, less creases on the sheet = less creases on the skin! Thanks to the super soft material it is extremely easy to stretch it across the face so that it fits properly.

It adheres wonderfully, it is glued to the face on all sides! It was also drenched in serum – like, it was literally dripping wet! Sinsay did not spare any expenses in this regard! Oh, and lest I forget! The print! It is utterly adorable! The lil fox face print is absolutely too cute and, because the sheet isn’t too large, it actually looks good on the face! It’s not squished or anything. Well, the nose and mouth could be better positioned, but that’s just nit-picking!

The serum is pretty gelly and thick. It is quite greasy. The longer it stays, the thicker it becomes. It’s okay, I guess. I prefer lighter serums, but this one isn’t extremely too thick anyways. It does become very, very tacky after it dries, though and that isn’t very comfortable.

Hmm, it feels kinda citrusy while it is absorbing. Not sure how much I like this. There is also a warming sensation that I am unsure whether it is a sign of irritation or how it’s supposed to be. In any case, it is hydrating, but the prickly, warm feeling negates all that and it actually becomes difficult to tolerate the closer you are to the 10 minutes it takes for the mask to absorb. The sickeningly sweet scent doesn’t help, either; it’s all a pretty nauseating experience, honestly. Sad.

Note: they say that you should wash off the serum after 10 minutes. I don’t see a reason why you would do such a thing. This is a classic sheet mask after all. ~~So I won’t wash it off; let’s see if that changes anything or causes any irritations.~~ Scratch that, it feels too uncomfortably warm. I won’t risk horrible irritations.

Okay, 10 minutes later... hmm, the warm sensation is still there. I don’t like it. However, it didn’t seem to cause any irritations. My skin looks hydrated and nourished, but it isn’t a lot plumper. Pores do seem to be slightly smaller, though. It is supposed to be anti-aging, but, of course, a single use won’t do much to actually fill in wrinkles or fine lines, you’ll have to use the mask multiple times to really see any results. The warming sensation goes away eventually, after about 5 minutes, and then my skin feels confused, like it doesn’t know whether to feel warm or cold.

Idk, it’s just not good overall. At least how it feels – it looks fine, at least for now. Also, this mask does absolutely nothing to calm down the skin or reduce redness and blemishes. So, in the end, my skin is just more hydrated and slightly more nourished. What a let-down...

My skin looks exactly the same the following morning. It is not in any better condition, but it also doesn’t look irritated or worse. Also, no new blemishes, so it doesn’t actually irritate my skin long-term.

Overall, I feel sad. I was pretty excited to finally try this mask out, it’s perfect for autumn when the leaves are orange and foxes roam about searching for the few rabbits that are still around. The sheet actually does look like a fox face! It’s adorable and the face is actually visible on my small face! Usually, sheets are too large, so the face prints tend to get all misshapen and wrinkled. But here it is obvious that I am a lil fox! The sheet was soaking wet – it was literally dripping with serum! This I definitely did not expect! And it is super soft and comfortable on the skin and just feels great! But now we are getting to why I am sad. It’s because this mask doesn’t show any results, actually. It feels weirdly warm while it is absorbing, which is a feeling I never like to feel in a sheet mask. It usually means my skin is reacting negatively to the mask... but it doesn’t look irritated once I remove the sheet. It does make my skin somewhat more hydrated and slightly more nourished, but it just doesn’t look any different. And the scent is sickeningly sweet, like the sweetest marshmallows topped with like sugar syrup. It’s way, way too sweet. Such a shame... it’s just useless, at least on my oily, acne-prone skin. No good whatsoever! Poor lil fox! And here I was, so stoked to finally use it, when it is in actuality barely average-quality. Oh well... it won’t be receiving any recommendations, sadly.

Why, hello there!

Today I have... an interesting mix of things. But out of all of them, our eyes will be focused on the face masks.

As you can see, I was shopping for various things; there's face masks, a shower gel, a ceramic bowl, a nice Pokémon pencil case and that white thing? Those are skinny jeans.

Quite a few of these things were bought because they were too adorable; specifically, the face masks and that cute coon-coon shower gel! I cannot decide which is most adorable... but the yummiest-looking is certainly the choco face mask! Oooh, cannot wait to try that out! The pencil case I got because I will always love Pokémon, so whenever I see an officially licensed product I gotta snag it! Do I need a pencil case? Yeah... no. But I can store eye pencils or something like that inside, so it's still useful!

The jeans were something I had been looking for for ages! All the various jeans and pants I have and not a single one is pure white! Preposterous! So I bought these as they were mid-rise (I prefer high-waisted) and skinny - just what I needed! I needed to hem them, of course, as it comes once in a blue moon that pants/jeans don't have to be shortened for me. But, after hemming them and tailoring them a little bit, now they're more than wearable - a bit thin material, but I don't mind it!

Depend O2 Nail Polish [632] Review

One nail polish after treating the nails with the lovely nail oil! This is the Depend O2 Nail Polish, shade 632!

The only real reason why I even bought this nail polish was so that I could get extra points on DM's loyalty card, as I had to buy 2 products from certain brands, and that included both Depend and Trend it Up. I honestly didn’t know which shade I should buy, as they were all a bit meh to me. I took a chance on this polish, as it looked like a deep chocolate brown on DM's webshop. Yes, it looked almost khaki brown in reality in the shop, but I chalked that up to DM's lighting not showing colours properly. I’d need some natural light to see what this brown actually looks like. But in any case, it was 50% off, so even if I do end up not liking it it’s not such a big deal. Now, let’s see how good this polish is!

Packaging: a tiny little rectangular bottle that looks elegant in how thin it is. The text is white, which is a good choice with such a dark colour. The cap is very tall compared to the actual bottle. It is white, which creates a nice contrast with the colour of the polish. The cap closes super tightly.

Ingredients: nothing nourishing, 3-free (DBP, formaldehyde, toluene). The scent is like any other nail polish. The expiration date is 12 months after opening.

Oh, I really like this brush! It’s a small flat brush, but it is actually plenty wide. It looks like it’s in great shape, no fraying at all. It picks up a lot of polish, so make sure you tap off the excess! The brush is super precise, so it doesn’t make a huge mess on the sides of nails. And it applies the polish so wonderfully evenly and pretty richly. Really nice brush!

Oh. Hmm. Well, this isn’t chocolate brown. It’s a pretty muddy brown; I can definitely see some green pigments in it. It’s also cool toned, and this combination of cool tones and very slight green tones makes it look... unattractive. I’m not going to say ugly, because I don’t think it’s ugly, per se, but I don’t really like it all that much. Although, it looks much better in neutral daylight, I actually kinda like how it looks on my skintone in neutral lighting. But still, it’s so muddy! It’s literally like I dipped my fingers in muddy water, or even pure mud!

The formula is legit silky! It’s relatively thin, but it isn’t runny at all. It doesn’t really feel gelly, either, it’s just smooth and silky. It is incredibly easy to apply it evenly across the nails as it is just such an easy formula to work with. And you don’t even need to worry too much about how thickly you are applying it since it’s a thinner formula. Such a wonderful, pleasant formula! And it feels more breathable than other nail polishes!

One coat is already very opaque, I’d say about 90%, since my nails are barely visible underneath. Although, the colour doesn’t seem to be as vivid as it should be. This is improved with two coats, now the colour looks as muddy as it should be. It’s 100% opaque now, and it doesn’t look too thick either. It just looks smooth and perfectly thick. The texture is pretty glossy.

Longevity is somehow much better than what it was with the other O2 nail polishes? At least in terms of chipping. See, there was barely any chipping after 4 days of wearing this nail polish, which is fantastic with my finicky nails. There was just a tiny bit of chipping after a hair wash, but it’s so minor that it’s negligible. And it’s mostly on the free edge of the nails. Wow! Why is this one so much better? But this is only one half of the story... the other half is much worse. I’m talking about scratches. This nail polish gets horribly scratched up after only one day, so much that the gloss isn’t that lovely high glossy shine anymore, but a more muted one. So, a protective top coat is absolutely necessary. Eh, I was expecting this... all the other O2 polishes had this exact problem.

It’s incredibly easy to remove; not a whole lot of rubbing needed to remove it, which is great for my sensitive nails. It also doesn’t make my nails yellower, even though it is pretty dark!

In conclusion, wow, so this shade is pretty much the best out of all the ones I have! This is a huge surprise to me! I was expecting it to chip a lot and have a ton of scratches, but it stayed in almost mint condition (in terms of chipping) until I went to remove it! It even survived a hair wash almost unscathed! But it does end up horrifically scratched up... and this ruins the highly glossy finish. Shame, but it was expected. The brush is excellent, it applies the nail polish evenly and richly across the nails, and it is precise enough that you don’t end up with a bunch of polish on the skin surrounding the nails. It’s so easy to use! The formula is another good thing: it’s super silky, so it applies evenly across the nails from the very first coat. It is a bit thin, yes, but I love just how smooth and silky it is! And now, the last thing... we are ending on a negative note, sadly. The colour. Yeesh. Yeah, it looked a bit poopy in the shop, but I thought that was just DM’s lighting being weird again, because it wouldn’t be the first time colours looked radically different in the shop versus out in neutral daylight. And the webshop showed it as being a dark chocolate brown, which would have been fantastic... were it not a muddy cool brown. And it’s not just a cool toned brown, it’s also got some green and yellow pigments in it, so it really looks like muddy water. Like, yeah, it looks pretty good on my pale skin, but I just don’t like it. Sorry. I just don’t. And since everything else can be remedied to at least some degree, and this cannot, I just won’t be wearing it often. Such a shame. Because of the colour and the scratches, I won’t be recommending this nail polish. It was this close though...

Trend it Up Coco Loco Caring Nail Oil Review

Now, something to care for the nails after they’ve been damaged by all the nail polishes and removing said polishes: this is the Trend it Up Coco Loco Caring Nail Oil!

I’ve learned ages ago how important it truly is to keep your nails hydrated. My nails are prone to drying out, which makes nail polishes chip sooner, and even peel off! So I decided to start using nail oils often, and, after many different oils, time had come to see what Trend it Up's nail oils are like. I had a coupon that gave me a bunch of extra points on the loyalty card, so why not try it out, right? Well then, let’s see what it’s like!

Packaging: a glass bottle, nothing too special. The cap is white and quite tall. It closes extremely tightly. The sticker with information on it does have a nice soft pink colour, but the black text is too dark for this soft colour I think. One interesting thing is that the ingredients list is found on the underside of the sticker, so you have to peel it off completely if you want to read it. Basic packaging, but it doesn’t have to be extremely extravagant or anything.

Ingredients: sweet almond (Prunus amygdalus dulcis) oil, jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) seed oil, coconut (Cocos nucifera) oil, Tiaré flower/Tahitian gardenia (Gardenia tahitensis) flower, vitamin E for nourishment. No parabens. Oh man! Wow! A very lean ingredients list that allows each oil to really shine, as there is only 8 ingredients in total. And only 3 aren’t particularly nourishing, the rest is super nourishing! Powerhouse trio of almond oil, jojoba oil, and coconut oil, truly caring for sensitive or damaged nails! And Tiaré because why not! I love this! The scent is just as great; it smells intense but it’s like the freshest coconuts! It’s that summery, fresh smell of perfectly ripe coconut flesh... ahh, delicious! It reminds me of pina colada, mmm. The expiration date is 12 months after opening.

The brush that comes with this nail oil is actually quite nice! It’s a wide, flat brush that is more than big enough to cover the nails with a good coating of oil. Although, it was quite rigid the first time I used the nail oil. It softened up after a few days, it’s pretty soft now. It looks high quality, no fraying or fall-out, even though I will admit that it does look plasticy. It picks up a large amount of oil, though, and it applies it incredibly evenly and thickly across the nails. Only a swipe or two and the entire nail and cuticle are coated with nourishing oil!

This nail oil is colourless and transparent. It’s not at all cloudy, either. I mean, is this a surprise, even??

The formula is oily... well, it is a nail oil after all. But it doesn’t feel heavy or very greasy. It’s actually a very lightweight oil! It’s very comfortable to wear because of how lightweight it is. It also absorbs faster than many other nail oils, although that still is a relatively long time objectively speaking. Best not to do anything for like 10 minutes after applying this oil, to ensure it gets absorbed as much as possible.

Although it isn’t a huge difference, it does seem to help hydrate my nails, as they don’t feel as dry anymore. And they don’t feel weak or brittle. But, since my nails have been in pretty good shape anyways, any difference wouldn’t have been as visible as on damaged nails. Still, it keeps my nails healthy and in good enough condition so that nail polishes don’t peel off or chip too soon. It is also quite nourishing for my cuticles! See, my cuticles are very often swollen and feel too sensitive, but they are much calmer with this nail oil!

However, this nail oil isn’t particularly long-lasting as it is prone to rubbing off on fabrics. And it’s not waterproof, so it’s best to apply it after you’ve had a shower. I don’t mind this honestly, as it does seem like my nails absorb it fairly quickly.

It’s also super easy to remove since it’s not at all waterproof or water-resistant. Just one swipe with a damp cotton pad and it’s gone.

In conclusion, certainly not the best nail oil out there, but it’s a good one nonetheless. It’s a good nail oil to maintain the health of the cuticles, but I fear it won’t be strong enough to actually heal any serious dryness or splitting. This is good enough for me, as long as it helps soften my cuticles so that they aren’t as swollen. And this it achieves with ease! It also seems to help nail polish stay on for longer before chipping. I apply it most days of the week before bed, so that it can fully absorb by the time I fall asleep. Unfortunately, I seem to always smudge it off... clumsy is my middle name. Sigh. But the little that does survive my clumsiness helps my nails and cuticles, I honestly doubt it would be as effective if I applied it during the day. Although, it is lightweight and comfortable enough to be worn throughout the day, I literally cannot feel it on my nails once it absorbs! It’s so lightweight! And the scent is just divine! It smells like fresh coconut flesh, ahh! Not a single bit synthetic, just pure, natural coconut scent! It kinda makes me want to have a piña colada, even though I’m a teetotaller... so delicious! So yeah, it’s affordable and it helps nourish and hydrate cuticles, and that’s all I was asking for! I will definitely recommend this nail oil, but people with very dry, brittle nails may have to go find a more nourishing nail oil.
